NFC East All Division Team – 2014 Season

THE bEAST TEAM

Best players in the NFC East at each position for the 2014 league year.

Offense

QB – Tony Romo

Want to erase reputation?  Blow through Rodgers, Seattle in Seattle, and either Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, or Andrew Luck to win it all.

Honorable Mention – Eli Manning

RB – DeMarco Murray

NFL Offensive player of the year!

Honorable Mention – LeSean McCoy

WR – Dez Bryant & Jeremy Maclin & Odell Beckham Jr.

Wow.  Odell Beckham?   Are you kidding me?  Dez Bryant has quietly matched Megatron’s production so far in his young career.  And if Maclin had better QB play down the stretch, well…  who knows.

Honorable Mention – DeSean Jackson

Tight End – Jason Witten

The two that were supposed to battle for this spot are no where to be found.   A Giants Tight End?  McAdoo about nothing.  But in the end, it’s the old reliable who was the turtle against three of four hares.   Slow and steady, he ended the season as the division’s best and is cementing his status as a Hall of Famer.

Honorable Mention – Larry Donnell

Tackle – Jason Peters & Tyron Smith

All three made the pro-bowl.   Two were on much better teams and one wasn’t healthy.

Honorable Mention – Trent Williams

Guard – Zach Martin and Evan Mathis

If Mathis was healthy all year, are these the two best guards in the game?  Zach Martin could be rookie of the year. Absolute grand slam for Jerry Jones.

Honorable Mention – Weston Richburg

Center – Travis Frederick

If Kelce was healthy all year, are these the two best centers in the game?

Honorable Mention – Jason Kelce

Defense

Edge Rushers – Ryan Kerrigan & Connor Barwin

Two white boys tore up the strong side with close to 30 combined sacks.   Both teams will still look to find elite edge rushers for the weakside, but maybe they already have them?

Honorable Mention – Jason Pierre Paul

Interior Defensive Line – Fletcher CoxJonathan Hankins

These two dominated all year.  Cox quietly put up numbers only bettered by JJ Watt.   Hankins was the anchor on that Giants line.

Honorable Mention – Tyrone Crawford

Linebackers – Rolando McClain & Keenan Robinson

Keenan Robinson filled in for London Fletcher better than anyone could have hoped.   Rolando McClain’s long con to wind up a Cowboy panned out beautifully.

Honorable Mention – Mychal Kendricks

Cornerbacks – Orlando Scandrick, Dominique Rodgers Cromartie, Bashaud Breeland

Clearly the best healthy corners on their respected teams.   Breeland was a pleasant surprise for the Redskins.  DRC stepped up once Prince went down and Scandrick really boosted a surprising Cowboys defense once he returned from suspension.

Honorable Mention – Brandon Carr

Safety – Malcolm Jenkins & Antrel Rolle

Malcolm Jenkins looks to have turned out well for the Eagles.   I’m sure the green bloods hope he’s their long term free agent answer at Safety, much as Rolle has been for the Giants.

Honorable Mention – Barry Church

Special Teams

Place Kicker – Cody Parkey

Better by 2.5% on 7 more field goals…  sorry Cowboy fans.  There’s a new kicker in town.

Punter – Tress Way

Best.Punter.in.the.League

Returner – Darren Sproles

 Greenbloods – 8

Brokebacks – 9

Northern Aggression – 4

Redskins – 4
