Welcome back to the Charlie The Unicorns Weekly Feature. NFL Week 3 is here. No other way to put week #2…. but I got rocked… as did a bunch of gamblers this last week, to the tune of 7-9. This was my worst week of the picks that I can recall, ever.
For the record, 20-12 overall (straight-up)….. The major injuries have really been piling on some of the big dog teams, so we better be careful picking games this week!
Lot’s of work to do this week, so keep this brief. The number of stars rank the best games, in my opinion, to sink your precious time into watching.
Thursday Football (Sept 24)
Redskins at Giants 8:25 PM CBS/NFL
Point Spread : -4.0 Giants
O/U : 44.0
This game might help decide the winner of the NFCE. Amazingly the Redskins are right in the think of the race still. Tough game to call….
Prediction: 21 – 20 Giants
Sunday Football (Sept 27) EASTERN TIME Broadcast
Falcons at Cowboys 1:00 PM FOX (***)
Point Spread : -1.5 Falcons
O/U : 45.0
I’m digging what the Falcons are selling. Romo and DEZ are out with major injuries. Witten is questionable last I checked. Where is the rushing attack by the cows anyhow? Talk about a dumpster fire waiting to happen.
Prediction: 33 – 21 Falcons
Colts at Titans 1:00 PM CBS (*)
Point Spread : -3.0 Colts
O/U: 45.0
This is most likely going to turn into a shootout. Both defenses are not that great…… Mariota vs Luck, who do you trust?
Prediction: 30 – 24 Colts
Raiders at Browns 1:00 PM CBS
Point Spread : -3.0 Browns
O/U: 42.0
One of the hardest games to predict. Both teams are inconsistent. Do the Browns have home field advantage? Rookie WR Cooper is the key to this game.
Prediction: 21 – 17 Raiders
Bengals at Ravens 1:00 PM CBS
Point Spread : -2.5 Ravens
O/U: 44.5
The Bengals are not that great on the road…. and have had their fair share of problems in Baltimore. Run first, then pass… they could win this game… an 0-3 Ravens team might emerge?
Prediction: 25 – 24 Bengals
Jaguars at Patriots 1:00 PM CBS
Point Spread : -14.5 Patriots
0/U: 47.5
The Patriots are at home. I think the Jags will give them a better than anticipated fight, but the Patriots are SB contenders, while the Jaguars are still rebuilding…. home team.
Prediction: 37 – 27 Patriots
Saints at Panthers 1:00 PM FOX
Point Spread : -7.0 Panthers
0/U: 44.0
The QB Drew Brees injury is a killer. The team is spiraling out of control, tail-spinning straight into the ground…. watch them win this game
Prediction: 24 – 10 Panthers
Eagles at Jets 1:00 PM FOX (**)
Point Spread : -1.0 Jets
O/U: 47.0
The Eagles are one of the sorriest looking teams I’ve seen in a long time. I’m going with the Jets, since Bowles looks like he has brought a little swag to New Yorks’ “other” team.
Prediction: 31 – 17 Jets
Buccaneers at Texans 1:00 PM FOX
Point Spread : -7.0 Texans
O/U: 40.5
The Bucs mess me up every year, when I think they will play well.. they blow it. Then they go to New Orleans and pull out a win. I’m so done with these guys. JJ Watt needs to crank it up in this game.
Prediction: 33 – 24 Texans
Chargers at Vikings 1:00 PM CBS (*)
Point Spread : -1.0 Vikings
O/U: 44.5
The Vikings look like they are turning the corner…. ie, lean on AP for over 150 combined yards. Chargers are going to do damage, but they have been sputtering. Let’s lean on the old man one more game. (And no-one likes bolo ties)

Steelers at Rams 1:00 PM CBS (***)
Point Spread : -1.0 Steelers
O/U: 47.5
If my memory serves me right, L’Bell returns for this game. Now, the Steelers have 2 legit RBs and A. Brown at WR. I just don’t see the Rams winning…. sorry Loyal.
Prediction: 30 – 20 Steelers
49ers at Cardinals 4:05 PM FOX
Point Spread : -7.0 Cardinals
O/U: 43.5
The real 49ers showed up in week #2. Life is hard on the road and the pesky cardinals are feeling cocky. Only way SF wins this game… Jesus shows up and Palmer has an injury. Otherwise, I’m not seeing how the 49ers win.
Prediction: 27 – 19 Cardinals
Bills at Dolphins 4:25 PM CBS
Point Spread : -2.5 Fish
O/U: 43.5
This is a real tough one. I like both defenses, but the Fish have had some problems on offense. This is a statement game for the fish, if they lose this. People will be fired soon… very soon.
Prediction: 24 – 17 Fish
Bears at Seahawks 4:25 PM FOX
Point Spread : -16.0 Seahawks
O/U: 43.5
Back-u QB and a banged up defense. The Bears are really hurting. Now they come out West and visit the lovely Clink. Can they win, sure.. will they… very doubtful. Lockett will seal the win with a PR/KR TD.
Prediction: 33 – 10 Seahawks
Sunday Night Football
Broncos at Lions 8:30 PM NBC (***)
Point Spread : -10.0 Broncos
O/U: 47.5
The Broncos defense has been carrying the mail. I’ve been most impressed with them to start the 2015 season. They will continue to do good work this week…. and Manning will feed his WRs for some serious production.
Prediction: 40 – 21 Broncos
Monday Night Football (Sept 21)
Chiefs at Packers 8:30 PM ESPN (****)
Point Spread : -7.5
O/U: 49.0
The key to this game, get RB Charles involved early and often. GB defense is susceptible to the rush. Rush the ball and keep AR on the sidelines, you might win with the Chiefs defense… or not.
Prediction: 27 – 17 Packers
