Boykin was obviously fantastic in the slot in 2013. He was good last year as well, even if he did drop off a little bit. I liked Shepherd and was fine with the trade when it happened. After Shepherd went down, I definitely regretted the Eagles trading Boykin. Now that he can’t crack the Steeler’s top 3 spots, there might be something about his game none of us know about.

Meh, I just make sure to not travel to Pittsburgh more than once a year and when I do I make sure to have already had something to eat when they try to force that garbage on and claim its better than a Philly Hoagie.
He doesn’t do well what they ask their safeties to do (ie cover man). They could try to work the scheme around him for sure and let him play lurk underneath, but they don’t have an Earl Thomas to play overtop and give him that freedom that he needs to make plays.
Kam is a great safety, but Seattle is absolutely the ideal spot for him. I would be curious to see how he adjusts elsewhere.
I’d feel more comfortable with him in the slot probably, but the Eagles do have a lot of players who play that position well. If they can rotate their DBs while staying in base like they like to, they should be ok.

Well, the situations are really quite different. Nelson Agholor is the third top 3 pick the Eagles have invested in the WR position in the last two drafts, plus a high 2nd in Zach Ertz in 2013 and acquiring Darren Sproles in 2014, so it’s not like the cupboard was bare. And beyond that they already had Cooper and signed Austin. If they went into the season with Cooper and Austin as their primary targets, you might have a decent point. And finally, the Cowboys found a winning formula for them last year and they were really dependent on the run game. I don’t know why they were comfortable taking an obvious step back on their bread-and-butter.

The fun thing about the Skins is that, on an annual basis, their abominable record is somehow the least embarrassing thing about them. As always, you can humiliate them simply by listing their vestigial fuckups over the past year in random order. Like so!
So it’s just about, no, it IS prediction time around here, and although most of my predictions about team finishes are based on betting, which means including odds, I will make my predictions for the East without taking that into consideration.
These predictions are for entertainment purposes only, so any losses anyone sustains based in whole, or in part, on these predictions are strictly the responsibility of the individual.
First up AFC North:
BEST BET TO WON DIVISION:
Cleveland Browns at PLUS 1200 (that’s 12-1 for the uninitiated)
Now, before you start…ok, WHILE you’re laughing consider this: 3 of the toughest 5 schedules in the NFL this coming season belong to the Steelers, the Ravens, and the Bengals. Also, and as most people probably don’t know, the Browns started last year at 6-3 (in the division lead) with Brian Hoyer as the QB. They had also by that time lost all pro center Alex Mack (who is returning this year).
Most importantly, the rest of the division comes with lots of problems; Pittsburg is without Bell and a bryant for 2 and 4 games respectively and lost Pouncey for the year and their defense is a mess. Cinncinati…well Andy Dalton and Marvin Lewis, the worst coach in the NfL tell the whole story.
Pretty much leaves a baltimore, and whatever you might think of them, with basically no WRs, and a very old Justin Forsett, they aren’t world beaters.
Cleveland at 12-1 is a VERY live dog.
Oh, plus they have the best defense in the division and the best OLine in the division (yes Baltimore is close).

The Nationals still have a few nickels to rub together, so they’ll get a chance to lock a couple of those players up if they want to. Note that if they didn’t wander into the middle of a Rays/Padres trade that had nothing to do with them, they would be completely hosed right now. Joe Ross and Trea Turner are built-in replacements for two players having miserable seasons, which does a great job tempering the above losses.
Still, here’s the two-sentence explanation of why those players get their own category: Those were four reasons the Nationals were supposed to be good this season. Those are four players who might not be around next season. Even if they’ve been disappointing, it’s hard to feel great about the future of the juggernaut if they don’t even have a chance to rebound.
The season after next, Strasburg is a free agent. How in the absolute heck do you figure out what kind of contract he’s going to get? What if he has an excellent season next year? What if he has another confusing one? It’s going to be completely impossible to predict his value as a free agent, but the odds are at least fair that there’s one team out there who will take a much bigger gamble than the other 29 teams will. Those same odds suggest that the Nationals don’t have to be the favorites just because they’re the only team Strasburg’s known. Weirdo free agents like that seem to have the best chance of disappearing behind the money stacks of the open market.

It’s not impossible, but it sure looks that way when you’re looking through 2015-colored glasses.
What’s Williams’ solution to these problems? Keep playing them both. Over and over and over again. Hope they can play their way out of the old and injured, which isn’t how it usually works. The next manager — assuming there’s not a late-season surge, which there very well could be — might have a different idea, but it looks like the salary and status are keeping them in the lineup. This could go on for the entire season next year, too, before they give up.

Fiversons No Spin Zone My dog has cancer. Started the summer with a torn ACL and ended it with cancer and he’s only 6. We usually take at least 2 vacations and didn’t go anywhere but to the Vet Hospital all summer. It’s been the most brutal summer in a long time.

I can see the Giants getting better in the second half of the season. On Sunday they will have no JPP, likely no Cruz, unexperienced safeties, still no linebacker that can cover the middle of the field and a rookie LT.

Thanks, we were going to do that but they also want to do radiation. It’s about 600 bucks each round of Chemo and they would do 5, one every 3 weeks. I’m already close to 20k into the whole thing already and another 3 to 6 won’t make a difference but from what I read it’s just prolonging the inevitable and putting him though pain and suffering. It’s not so much the money as it is what it does to the dog and they can’t say it will give him much more than 6 more months. Now it’s about quality of his life.
