Hey everyone welcome to Caturdays. Your weekly segment where we discuss such things as the Flacco Renaissance, Mahomes MVP watch, and the decline of the NFCW quarterbacks.

Today we are going to focus on the match up of the week: The San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

This game is a matchup of two quarterbacks. The first is Patrick Mahomes. Coming off two road games, he has scored the most touchdowns to start a season ever. Lead by a fantastic receiving group and a creative play caller in Andy Reid, Mahomes has had immediate success. Success that many were expecting from the newly highly paid Jimmy Garoppolo, Jimmy GQ (gender queer?), aka Jimmy Field goal. He is off to an awful start completing only 55% of his passes and is second to last in total QBR. A stat that may inflate good games but is clear in rating bad games. Even worst out of 9 trips to the red zone, they have only managed 3 touchdowns.

The 49ers do have two bright spots in Brieda and Kittle. Together they have helped keep the offense from going completely stagnant. Brieda at the moment is the NFLs leading rusher in part to an explosive 66 yard touchdown last week vs the Lions. Look for both of them to have big games vs the worst ranked defense in the league if the Niners want to have a chance to win.

This doesn’t mean the chiefs defense doesn’t have any playmakers. Justin Houston is still one of the leagues best pass rushers and Kendall Fuller has been the only trusted CB so far for a unit that is still missing Eric Berry.

Many see this as a great opportunity for Jimmy to finally live up to his hype but on the other hand it might be seen as a break for Kansas City after facing top veterans Rivers and Roethlesberger.

KEY TO THE GAME CHIEFS

Staying balanced. While most of their yards have come through the air, their play calling is still 59 passes to 52 rushes. Foster and Smith will be back for their first games this year and will probably be a bit rusty.

KEY TO THE GAME 49ers

Hoping. Praying. Maybe a miracle. Like last week when that interception was miraculously called back on a weak penalty.

All in all we have two bad defenses. Should see a lot of scoring. Prediction:
Chiefs 56 points ( by way of 8 touchdowns)
49ers 33 points ( by way of 11 field goals)

That’s it for this week. Be sure to come back next Saturday for another installment of Caturdays.
