Week 6 BEAST TEAM
Season to date list of the best players the NFC East has in each position for the 2014 league year.
Offense
QB – Tony Romo
Tony’s 5-1 behind an impressive ground game. He isn’t making many mistakes this year. He’s playing the way the Cowboys hoped he’d play when he signed his contract. Honorable Mention – Eli Manning
RB – DeMarco Murray & Rashard Jennings
DeMarco has this thing wrapped up. But who’s the second back? Jennings keeps it since he’s been the most consistent this year. One great game against the Giants shot McCoy up in the stats, but we’ll need to see more for him to make it on this season long team. Honorable Mention – LeSean McCoy
WR – DeSean Jackson & Jeremy Maclin
Who would have figured? The Eagles drafted both of the division’s best receivers to date. DJax bumps Dez off the list this week as he takes over the yardage lead for the division. Honorable Mention – Dez Bryant
Tight End – Larry Donnell
This is a tight group between Ertz, Paul and Donnell. Until Jordan Reed plays enough to take what’s rightfully his, I’m leaving Donnell here. He’s had the most impact this season. Honorable Mention – Zach Ertz
Tackle – Jason Peters & Tyron Smith
This is a three tackle race, but Will Beatty’s play this year has allowed him to enter the conversation. He’s not quite ready to bump one of the big three, but he’s playing very well for the Giants. Honorable Mention – Trent Williams
Guard – Zach Martin and Weston Richburg
Two rookies playing very well. Great picks by the Cowboys and Giants. Honorable Mention – Todd Herremans
Center – Travis Frederick
With Kelce out, Travis makes this decision pretty easy. Honorable Mention – Kory Lichtensteiger
Defense
Edge Rushers – Ryan Kerrigan & Connor Barwin
Wow, what a game by Connor Barwin. He makes it off of basically on game where McCoy did not simply due to competition at this spot. There isn’t any. These two lead the entire league in sacks. Honorable Mention – Jason Pierre-Paul
Interior Defensive Line – Fletcher Cox & Tyrone Crawford
These two guys continue to play at a high level and make their entire defensive fronts better. Honorable Mention – Jason Hatcher
Linebackers – Rolando McClain & Keenan Robinson
How improbable is Rolando McClain’s play? Keenan Robinson has been amazing in the middle for the Redskins. Honorable Mention – Jacquian Williams
Cornerbacks – Prince Amukamara, Orlando Scandrick, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
These three have played the best coverage year to date. We’ll see if DRC can stay on this list. I’m pretty confident the first two will. Honorable Mention – Brandon Boykin
Safety – Malcolm Jenkins & Antrel Rolle
These two have made play after play for the defense. Honorable Mention – Barry Church
Special Teams
Place Kicker – Dan Bailey
Punter – Donnie Jones
Returner – Darren Sproles
Brokebacks – 9
Greenbloods – 7
Northern Aggression – 6
Good Guys – 3
