1. San Francisco 49ers
Yes, they were lucky to survive five turnovers Sunday. But aside from Patriots, the Niners are the only team in the league with a top-five offense and defense so far. Jimmy Garoppolo looks like the top quarterback in the division and the Niners have elite run game and defense to go with him.
2. Los Angeles Rams
Aaron Donald finally got a sack Sunday but remains a notoriously slow starter. He needs another for just his third multi-sack September of career. But defense is not the main worry in LA. Goff has struggled in his first three games of the year. In fact, he has looked below average since last season’s Bears game. He has just 10 TDs and a 55% completion percentage in that time frame while also tossing 10 picks.
3. Arizona Cardinals
Are the Cardinals already wearing down? Games are getting increasingly ugly each week and score deficits continue to rise. Kliff and Kyler’s offense is looking incrementally less productive. But they still look better than Seattle on both sides of the ball.
4. Seattle Seahawks
After escaping the lowly winless Bengals and the Big Ben-less 0-3 Steelers, they — and coach Pete Carroll — took quite a shot to the face Sunday. Don’t let the final score or Russell Wilson’s stats fool you, the Seahawks trailed 27-7 at the end of the third quarter and Wilson accumulated most of his stats in garbage time. Week 4 and week 5 dates with Arizona and LA have the potential to expose Seattle even more.
