Oliver’s Week 3 Picks

1024 640 Oliver James

So the first 2 weeks haven’t gone according to plan with my picks, but that’s okay. I’ll get better eventually (I hope).

Through 2 weeks, I’m at 16-16 and Chuck is at 22-10. Obviously, I have some ground to make up, so here we go. Week 3!

Houston Texans at New England Patriots

Yes, the Patriots are playing their third string quarterback on a short week, but this season has reaffirmed my belief to never doubt Bill Belichick. Pats take it.

Pick: Pats 30 Texans 24

Arizona Cardinals at Buffalo Bills

The Bills have shown little signs of life so far this season and I picked them to win twice this season. I won’t make that mistake this week.

Pick: Cardinals 30 Bills 22

Oakland Raiders at Tennessee Titans

Disappointing loss for the Raiders last week. Their defense has been just as bad as it was last year through 2 games this year. However, I don’t see a way they lose this week.

Pick: Raiders 20 Titans 17

Cleveland Browns at Miami Dolphins

This week’s dumpster fire match up features a couple 0-2 teams with very ltitle hope for the season. The Dolphins are the slightly better team and are at home, so I think they take this one.

Pick: Dolphins 23 Browns 20

Baltimore Ravens at Jacksonville Jaguars

So much for the Jaguars being better this year. After getting destroyed by the Chargers, the Jaguars look like the team that we’ve seen the past 8 years. The Ravens two wins have looked pretty pedestrian so far. This one will be close, with the Jags taking it. I’m not giving up on them yet.

Pick: Jaguars 27 Ravens 26

Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers

Through two games, the Packers’ offense looks just as pedestrian as last year. However, after getting shocked at home by the lowly Titans, the Lions still have their flaws from last year too. I’ll take Green Bay in a nailbiter.

Pick: Packers 17 Lions 16

Denver Broncos at Cincinnati Bengals

The best match up of the week is unfortunately at 10 AM. Good job NFL! Anyways, both teams look pretty good so far, but picking against the Broncos is trouble at this point.

Pick: Broncos 34 Bengals 27

Minnesota Vikings at Carolina Panthers

If the previous matchup is the best of the week, this one is a close second, and it is also at 10 in the morning. Again, good going NFL. The Vikings will give the Panthers all they can handle, but it’s been forever since the Panthers have lost at home. Not picking against them here.

Pick: Panthers 27 Vikings 24

Washington Redskins at New York Giants

It’s looking more and more like the Redskins were a fluke last year with how awful they look this year. The Giants should take this one easily.

Pick: Giants 24 Redskins 13

Los Angeles Rams at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Rams showed last week that they still own the Seahawks, but are still a mediocre team. The Buccaneers are on the same boat after last week’s embarrassing loss in Arizona. It’ll be close, but the home team will take this one.

Pick: Buccaneers 20 Rams 13

San Francisco 49ers at Seatlle Seahawks

Weren’t these teams in the NFC Championship game 2 years ago. How the mighty have fallen. The Seahawks’ offensive line is something yout could find in a comedy, but the 49ers haven’t won in Seattle since 2011. I’ll take Seattle at home by 3.

Pick: Seahawks 19 49ers 16.

New York Jets at Kansas City Chiefs

Disappointing loss in Houston last week as the Chiefs’ offense couldn’t get anything going. The Jets defense is no slouch either, but being in the cozy confines of Arrowhead Stadium should benefit the Chiefs. They’ll pull this one out.

Pick: Chiefs 20 Jets 10

San Diego Chargers at Indianapolis Colts

The Chargers looked shockingly good last week against the Jaguars. However, it was the Jaguars. Then again, the Colts looks terrible through two weeks. San Diego it is.

Pick: Chargers 31 Colts 28

Pittsburgh Steelers at Philadelphia Eagles

Both Pennsylvania teams look fantastic early on, which bodes well for their quaternal showdown this week. The Steelers are the better team, but I think Philly catches them off guard and pulls out a big upset

Pick: Eagles 20 Steelers 17

Chicago Bears at Dallas Cowboys

This is the damn game that gets put on Primetime. Thanks NFL! This matchup between two bad teams will probably be a good game, for the reason that both teams are awful. I’ll take Cowboys, since they have the better backup quarterback.

Pick: Cowboys 23 Bears 17

Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints

I was shocked that the Falcons won in Oakland last week, and this week they get a defense that is just as bad. Both teams will score, but the Falcons’ defense is better and their offense is more explosive. They’ll take this one convincingly.

Pick: Falcons 41 Saints 24
