Sir Squatch Lupo I will be the environment that matters going forward. TV definition will only incrementally get better going forward for a while. It will be the interactive features that will dramatically change over the next 5 years. Apps, iPhone like features to control your entire home will become integrated into the TV.
For example, Apple has a new local comms technology that will expand what you control from your TV dramatically. I have whole house wired audio for example in my home – cost me about $20k to wire and have interface controls. That all goes away. Simply plug in the speakers (or wire them directly into the wall) and thats all you need.
The big thing for home automation that Apple (and others) will bring is the ease of connecting, the best way to lower the cost is to remove the professional installer.
Apple excels in this area.
If you don’t own the stock now your crazy. Sounds like a lot of you guys on here are under 30. I turned 50 two weeks ago. Had I held my Apple shares from the age of 30 a $5000 investment then would be worth $510,000 today….
You have the time to make long term investments.

He’s going to take over for Orakpo. The skins will know by the end of the season if they don’t have a blind side edge rusher. Kerrigan CANNOT do it. He needs to compliment. I have serious doubts Murphy is that guy. This is why I’m all for spending the first rounder on another edge rusher. They are must haves. And we currently don’t have one. Kerrigan must stay as the SAM.

my take on JPP.
since he obviously isn’t getting much pressure on the QB from the LDE position and is a monster vs the run, let’s move him over to RDE and start Moore or Ayers at RDE. to me that would be similar to having Strahan and Osi/Tuck. the only difference is that they all can play the run while also providing pressure on the QB.

Sir Squatch Jeter162 Agreed. I think he’s a good player. But at 32 and the Cowboys salary cap situation I think Hatcher and Ware were both good decisions.
I do think that the Cowboys top priority has to be D-line in the next draft. Increased sacks will make the secondary better. Can’t give a ton of time to the QB and expect the secondary to cover forever.

I think there is an inherent flaw in your logic.
The amount of time an offense has the ball has no bearing on the defenses ability to keep an opponent from making 1st downs when they do have the ball. In fact, it can be argued that if a defense is not allowing offenses to have as many sustained drives that contributes to their offenses TOP because the offense gets more possessions.

Skins have a decent rush D. I think we’ll do ok vs Dallas rush game. Missing Hall is huge though against Dez. Breenland is physical enough to play with him a bit but any rookie is going to get burnt by Dez over time. I think we see a lot of zones and that ain’t good if the pass rush sucks and gives Romo a month to throw.

No. No they can’t. The game plan has to be to slow the run game down and pray Romo pulls a Romo and Dallas D rears it’s ugly head eventually.
Offensively, the Skins have to run the ball, throw short and safe passes to the playmakers, and not settle for 3 if/when they get in the red zone.

Of course Morris was a Shanny back. He was a 6th round pick that excelled under Bobby Turner. The problem is Jay Gruden is trying too many of these power running plays, 6 blast.. shit like that. Dumb. Should have stayed with the outside and inside zone plays.
Also, Gruden knew almost immediately that the team made a mistake with Lauvou. Stupid signing.

Interesting ‘stat’, but ultimately meaningless. It is based on yards/play. One stat also based on a per play basis is opponent 1st downs/play. In this stat Dallas is 15% better in 2014. Another is 3rd down conversions where Dallas D has improved over 2013 as well.
These stats do not tell the same story

Look, other than adding a really good looking ROOKIE olineman, the Cowboys offense is IDENTICAL to last year with one big exception; play calling.
You want to identify the MVP for the Cowboys, look no further than two coaching changes; offensive play caller, and Marinelli.
That’s it, for years the Cowboys have had nearly the identical talent they have this year, but the problem has been the coordinators and they play calling and coaching they have added.

RG is a harder position to play than LG so you want to keep Martin there. At least it is the opinion of the retired O linemen on Sirius NFL that RG is harder to play than LG

It a a combination of both the oline and the playcaller. Last season they had a pretty good oline. When they ran they ran well, biggest problem with that? They were still calling for Romo to throw 40+ times a game. While everyone and their sister were calling for them to run the damn ball. This playcaller is doing that (obviously)

Can’t say one way or the other whether he’s the “best” at his respective position. It’s hard to compare such different positions. But he very well may make more of an impact in terms of team success than Bryant. I think it’s just inherent in the position.

JosephR2225 Last season they played their last 8 with 1 play off team faced. (Last place division schedule). Their for 6 this season were against only 2 playoff teams and they lost one of those games (0 TD scored on offense in case you are having trouble remembering…).
This season their last 8 are against 5 division leaders/playoff teams.
Two seasons of wear and tear from ‘up-tempo’ may be taking its toll in injuries and exhaustion. There was a great article on this about two weeks ago that has some merit but as I said the jury is out.

JosephR2225 I think the 49ers and Cards are almost in the same boat in that they’ve both taken on major injuries that are eventually going to be far too difficult for them to overcome.
The difference is that the Cards have weathered that storm as of yet, however the Niners are set to “get healthier” in a few weeks.
That and the play calling by Greg Roman has been atrocious. It really makes me second-guess the praise I had for him in building this offense.

When I was watching the Eagles-49ers game and they were commenting on how Greg Roman wants the offense to be more centered around Colin Kaepernick, all I could do was ask “why?” It seemed on several occasions they would have been better off with 10 blockers and a direct snap to the RB.

The last time the Cowboys played the Steelers, there was not ONE penalty accepted against the Steelers, the time before that, there was a total of ONE, penalty against the Steelers.
Now, I’ve watch the NFL for over 40 years, and I can’t think of a single game (with the exception of these two) where a team had ZERO penalties called against them, but for the Steelers (at least when it comes to Cowboy games) seem to just never do anything that violates the rules.

Problem that Garrett had going against him (and I posted about this repeatedly during the off season) was that he took over a team that had been the victim of 4 straight GODAWFUL DRAFTS in a row, and the talented core of the team was older, guys brought in between 2003 and 2005. He basically took over a squad that had relatively little young talent, especially as far as role players go. A handful of stars is great but as the later 90’s Cowboys showed, when the role players suck the stars can’t do much more than just keep the team relevant.
Look at this team now, nearly all their players have come to this team in 2010 or later, and they have developed the middle of the road role players who actively help the team, it’s a philosophy that Jason learned from Jimmy, who used to preach that consistent winners do it with strong performances from the supporting cast, not simply hoping their super stars have monster games every single week.

Is Romo audibling more or less this season compared to the last two years? I don’t know but it seems like it. For instance, in the past, when teams would show 8 in the box Romo would tend to audible to a pass play, but, this year they are running right at an 8-9 man front (and getting yards).

JosephR2225 Pats still have a tough road ahead of them. Beating the Jets and Bills shouldn’t make people get too high on them.
The Ravens are actually bad ass. I think they might get the 2 seed for the AFC unless the Colts take it instead.
The Chargers… I cannot emphasize enough the extent of their injuries. They’re kind of like the Cards, playing well in spite of their circumstances. Things will start to catch up with them as their schedule begins to become more difficult.

Sir Squatch Outside of putting the Cards ahead of the Cowboys & Eagles, who goes ahead of them aside from Denver?
Sometimes, these rankings are by default. The Eagles probably stood pat or went up in most Power Rankings simply because only Denver & Dallas won out of the teams that were likely ranked ahead of them.
