Good article on the division injuries:
Eagles: Looking like the line will and Sproles starting making its way back pre-Thanksgiving.
Cowboys: Getting helathier. Carter should be 100% by Thanksgiving. Lawrence should have a few games by then as well.
Hope both teams manage to stay at full health through the two head to head games over the three weeks. Could make for some great football and long term grist for the mill.

I liked the way the defense played against the Giants (tends to happen after a shutout) specifically the defensive secondary. They had a couple coverage sacks for the first time since Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown were starters. But I don’t think they’ll be able to play as tight against the Arizona WRs who are too big and too fast to get effective jammed by Cooper and Fletcher.

Free agent WR Jon Baldwin worked out for the Giants on Tuesday.It’s the first we’ve heard of the 2011 first-rounder since he was waived by the Lions in early August. Baldwin appeared in seven games for the 49ers last season, but caught only three passes. He’s just about washed out of the NFL.

He’s not breaking tackles. He’s not attacking the POC to set the edge to allow for cutback lanes to open.
Also, the inside zone reads have changed. He’s getting hand offs instead of getting it pitched to him. Last year Shanny would let the backs decide how they got it. This year, he’s getting handoffs. Likely due to the fumbling issue. But it’s not what Alf likes. Just a mess.
I knew getting rid of Bobby Turner was an epic mistake.

mytee316 Eh, Cooley is also an idiot. I don’t think ALF is completely immune to criticism, but when you say your RB isn’t breaking tackles 5 yards behind the LOS, you have bigger issues. That line is killing him and the TEs aren’t giving him shit for blocking. You can see that he is still running really well when the line gives him a chance.

Interesting difference between Dallas running game this year vs last.
This year Dallas is able to run even when the defense knows they are going to run, like in the last 4 minutes of a game when Dallas is trying to run out the clock.
Sunday the Giants, in the last Dallas drive, were throwing up 8 and sometimes 9 in the box and Dallas still ran the ball effectively. That’s impressive.

That was the most ridiculous part of the whole thing to me. If a player walked right up to Roger Goodell and slugged a woman square in the face, that’s a six game suspension under the new policy. Rice wasn’t suspended because of what he did, he was suspended because the NFL screwed it up in the first place.

When he was first picked up, Archer and other Dallas writers were pretty much guaranteeing that unless there was a lot of injuries, he would not play in a game for Dallas this year no matter how he pans out just because of the Camp issue.

Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III was expected to carry a heavier workload in Wednesday’s practice as the team evaluated whether the third-year quarterback is sufficiently recovered from the ankle injury that’s sidelined him since Week 2.
It was not immediately known exactly how much Griffin ratcheted up his level of participation because practice was closed to the media before the more strenuous team drills started.
During individual drills, though, Griffin moved easily and looked comfortable. Wearing a hinged ankle brace under his sock and cleat, he took snaps from shotgun and under center, handed the ball off to running backs and was mostly on target as he connected with receivers on short, intermediate and long range throws.
Griffin and Colt Mcoy split the majority of the snaps, with Kirk Cousins rotating in as the No. 3 signal caller.
Coach Jay Gruden and McCoy are expected to address the reporters after practice.

Anyone in here saying pass rush isn’t a primary need for any team in this division isn’t paying attention. However, need needs to mesh with who’s available. Value trumps. There are plenty of good backs that can do very well behind that line without having to invest significant resources in them. You can re-sign Murray now, when his value will never be higher and history suggests he will start to decline, but I think that’s a mistake. And, by and large, RBs just do not have first round value. Either cultivate the guys they have or target a decent RB in FA.

He’s never played a complete season, ever. And statistics overwhelmingly suggest that RBs peak at 27 or so and experience significant decline after, particularly with a workload like Murray has this year. You can ignore it, or hope he’s an exception, but when you do, you wind up with a Ryan Howard-esque contract.

I don’t know what you’re talking about, and I have the distinct impression neither do you. RBs typically don’t last. They just don’t. There are a number of reasons for RBs declining, one of which is getting tackled, but it’s a tremendous strain on the body, and history suggests it is unwise to bet on one older than age 27, particularly one who has an injury history. You don’t want that to apply to Murray, which I can understand, but I’m not a Dallas homer so I’m not going to assume it won’t.

I would like to see how far in the playoffs Dallas gets with their very limited defense, it really makes me giddy about the next couple of years with the offensive core staying together, the O line gelling even more, and adding more defensive pieces to the team.
