Could argue that when he started the throwing motion that there was a WR just beyond the LOS in the area where he was throwing it. The WR vacated the area before the ball could have ever arrived, but that may not matter.

Don’t let them fool you. Nobody faces 8 man fronts anymore except on the goal line. Teams play 3WR more often than not now. If they were facing 8 men fronts teams would be in zero coverage on every play.
That’s one guys opinion and of course it’s true. Doesn’t excuse the OL’s shitty run-blocking. And what does this have to do with 8-9 man fronts the Cowboys face every play?
Of course he does, nobody is arguing that… But the drop off from last year has much more so to with just him…

There is some validity in arguing that Dez, in particular has a significant affect on the run game. Since Romo & Dez went out opposing teams no longer fear that the remaining receivers & QB so they are committing 8 & a lot of the times 9 in the box to stop the run.
When Dez is on the field teams normally double him and sometimes (see 1st Giants game) buzz a LB underneath. This prevents teams from committing 8/9 guys to stopping the run. If you do that with Dez in single coverage, he and Romo will make you pay.
In the 1st half of the Atlanta game Dallas had good success running the football because Atlanta was not putting 8/9 in the box. At the half they realized that the Dallas WRs posed no threat and that Weeden was not going to hurt them, so they put 8/9 in the box and stopped the Dallas run game. The Saints played almost the entire game with 8/9 in the box. The Pats did the same.
That isn’t to say that is the sole reason for Dallas bad results running the ball, clearly it isn’t. The O line has not played well at all, not nearly as well as they did last year. Leary in particular has been unsat since returning from his injury.

With Romo & Dex out, Weeden and the passing game is not the greatest threat. To that extent, defenses will focus on shutting down the run game. But, BUT, the O-Line still has to win their match-ups from time to time. They are made up of talented individuals. There is no excuse not to run better than they are.

Not when you consider that most O lines are built to provide pass protection, not run blocking. After all, it’s still a passing league despite the recent (1 year) trend to emphasize the run more than before.
The other factor affecting run blocking is the lack of padded practices now vs before the new CBA. O linemen need contact to get the timing down on run blocks, they don’t get it in practice anymore.

If you just line him up and ask him to beat the guy that’s covering him, it seems he’s not going to win consistently enough. I think in the right offense he can be dangerous for anybody, but he’s not Julian Edelman or Wes Welker; those guys are top notch route runners and I just don’t think Huff is.
When Desean played under Chip in 2013 they did a lot of things to get him in favorable matchups; have him run a deep in while Cooper ran a clearout, line him up in the backfield and get him matched up on a nickel with a two-way go, it worked really well. Nobody is going to confuse Josh Huff for Desean Jackson, but I think some similar plays designed with Huff in mind would help him out.
Those aren’t Bees, they are related to wasps. They don’t lose their stinger and die after one shot like bees, they just keep,on stinging.

Lots of great college teams don’t win every game. Dunno what else to tell you. He put SC’s all time best team together that year. It’s not like we’re talking about a school that sells itself either like ND, OSU, USC, Texas. They were a middle tier program before Spurrier. During his era they were a powerhouse. Pretty impressive.
Some people are just naturally inclined to dislike him. He’s been good in limited action so far this year. They’re bringing him along slowly too.

Justin – Keep in mind Florida was a crap program prior to Spurrier. He took over SC after Holtz had gotten the Cocks into trouble as well and they also weren’t really relevant since around 1980. Being the greatest coach in 2 SEC programs history is pretty good.
Spurrier had 11 years to build SC into a powerhouse with most of them in arguably the best conference in the NCAA yet he failed to have a season where they lost under 2 games let alone win a National Championship. In those same years at least 4 SEC teams won 8 or more. This speaks volumes of what kind of coach Spurrier has been since getting to S.C. Good? maybe. Average? probably. Great? Not even close.

I will be. A Florida DT is the 2nd DT to say that stopping Fournette, “shouldn’t be much of a problem”. Only problem is, even if you stop Fournette (and the standard for ‘stopping him’ appears to be holding him under 200 yards). LSU has a plebe, er true freshman who is a pretty damn good back in his own right.

TBH, Dallas (and every other team) runs its fair share of pick plays. Witten is especially good at getting in the way without actually touching the CB. They only call it if the WR runs into the CB

LOL, my wife knows I play fantasy (in a neighborhood league), so she’s seeing all these 24/7 ads for fan duel & has a momentary panic attack asking me, “You aren’t doing that, are you?” “Of course I am, Dear, I’m gambling away our retirement nest egg in the vain hope that I find enough ‘one week wonders’ to actually get more points than someone else.”
I don’t play fan duel or other sites because I suck at fantasy, I seem to be unable to resist the ‘homer’ pick and I tend to pick too many from the NFCE (I took Bradford for instance), because I’m more familiar with them than other divisions or the AFC.
I also don’t do the one-week leagues. Mostly because my wife would yell at me.
Man, do we have a pretty El Nino going. Good news for Cali because El Nino’s tend to mean a lot more rain on the West Coast, other factors like the PDO & AMO being accomodating.
