Overtime Debate: Why can’t the NFL get it right?
I hear all kinds of stupid suggestions for the OT period. I guy on ESPN Radio just suggesting the team with the most fantasy points should win….
Why not a mini-game? 2 periods of 2 minutes each. 2 minute warning is the best part of the game. No coin flip bullshit. Each team will get the ball. The point of OT should be to figure out who is the better team – using all phases Offense, defense and specials….
They are over complicating with TD wins it, two possessions, etc.

Welp, so much for the ‘trap game’ Dallas theorists.
I have a counter ‘theory’. In order for a team to have a ‘trap’ game, that team has to be getting it’s wins primarily because it is over emotional, i.e., teams that ‘have a chip on their shoulder’ or ‘feel disrespected’. When that happens the team tends to have games in which they can’t screw themselves up to an emotional peak, especially against known lesser quality teams. They then play to their true ability and often lose.
Teams, like the Patriots, who win based on talent and coaching tend not to suffer emotional lows when facing decidedly lesser teams and they tend to take care of business.
I would submit that Dallas, under Garrett, is becoming such a team.
