This article will not have a “homer” feel to it like Bkob’s does which he’s well known for. No i won’t be riding on Carson Palmer’s nuts because over a 14 game stretch he has been the best qb in the nfcw maybe even in the nfc. No this article will be about how did the Cardinals rise from the ashes like the Phoenix to be reborn into a winning tradition.
The last season of the Whisenhunt era was a very bad one for Cardinal fans. After Warner left we saw bad football from very bad qbs. We saw inept offensive play calling from Whisenhunt and very bad coaching and development of young qbs.
FINALLY the Cardinals organization/owner Michael Bidwill made huge changes firing Whisenhunt and hiring Bruce Arians and bringing in GM Keim.
5 areas needed to build a winning football team
1 upper management: you need a really good gm
2 hc and coaches: teaching and developing players skills
3 drafting: knowing when to draft for need and best player
4 players believe: players buying into what HC is selling
5 fan base : Must have a healthy fan base
Why have the cards been successful 3 years in a row?
How have the cards built a winning attitude?
How has the cards defense become better after bowles left?
Why is Carson Palmer having a career year and why is he so comfortable with B.A.’s offensive system ?
We will look into all these questions plus throw in some BA qoutes!
The Az Cardinals have built a winning attitude last 3 seasons winning 10 games 2013 10 games 2014 and at least 12 games in 2015. There are several reasons for this, success breeds a winning attitude! Players must believe their coaches will make them better. If they believe this then they will buy into what the coaches are selling and play their hearts out for their coaches. Fitzgerald is a perfect example of this, he was a wide out all of his career but B.A. wanted him to play in the slot and block more, it took Larry 1 season to buy in. Now that he’s done this, he has reaped the benefits and he is happy he stayed a Cardinal.
Cardinals defense has actually become better since Bowles has left. How is this possible? First Cardinals kept their defensive scheme just added a few wrinkles like putting Bucannon in the box and letting the Honey Badger roam. PP has his health back and is having the best year of his career.
Carson Palmer is having a career year for many reasons. #1 he believes and understands Arians offensive scheme plus #2 he has never had so many weapons at his disposal in his entire career. #3 IMO I believe Palmer is on a mission to prove he can win in the playoffs, the one major knock on his career.
The Cardinals have an amazing fan base. The only pro sports team in Phoenix that sells out their games even when they didn’t put a good product on the field. UoP has sold out every single game since it opened in 2006! The Diamondbacks, Coyotes and Suns can’t claim this! The fans are so loud it’s #1 in all 32 stadiums for false starts by the road team!
Steve Keim has done a wonderful job with 1 year contracts with veterans. Abraham, Chris Johnson and lately Dwight Freeney. Arians and Keim hit the jackpot signing Carson Palmer. IT seems everytime Arians and Keim pull the strings it works out for the organization!
Keim is being called the “Magician of FA” in the local media market. You MUST HAVE A GOOD GM TO HAVE A SUCCESSFUL NFL FOOTBALL TEAM!
The Arizona Cardinals last 3 seasons have done a great job drafting players (*except DJ Humphries). Arians and Keim drafted rbs Ellington and David Johnson and wrs Michael Floyd, JJ Nelson and John Brown. On the defense they drafted Honey Badger and Bucannon, Minter and Rashad plus Bethel. Cardinals Organization drafted wr Fitzgerald, db Patrick Peterson and DT Calais Campbell. You must draft your core players to be successful!
Not sure how long this awesome ride will continue, but if you are a Cardinal fan enjoy it while you can and just maybe it may become a magical season and if so, when we get trolled “you haven’t won a SB!” just maybe, we can troll back and say “suck this bitches and kiss it slowly!!!”
Some of B.A’s best qoutes
“I don’t care where you came from, how you got here. We’re going to play the best ones. Your draft status, the amount of money you make doesn’t mean s*** to me.”
“You have a meeting, and then you walk through it, and then you go practice it. If you can’t get it by then, you’re probably too dumb to play. That’s the evaluation process.”
On the input quarterback Carson Palmer will have on deciding which of the two men competing for the starting center position will win the job:
“None. Their butts are about the same.”
