What I think we need and what I think the Cowboys also believe is that, to really make this offense go, we need a Y receiver with speed. Someone who can put pressure on the top of the defense that defenses will have to account for. We don’t have that now and defenses can freely shade the safety to Dez. What hurt Kelly most in Philadelphia was not having a quarterback to execute exactly what he wanted to do. Problem solved here. But there’s still a huge talent gap on defense, so I’m not sure this is the great job everyone’s making it out to be, even though it is the New York Football Giants. Tied for number two, if I’m John Mara: Stanford coach David Shaw and Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

Game was over when he said that, but, that is something to consider. I absolutely HATE people who quit in games like that. When I was playing HS ball we had several guys who were far more talented than I was (which didn’t take all that much) but, as soon as we’d get down 14 or so (which was quite often in the 1st Qtr – we sucked big time), they’d just go through the motions. I hated them for that. The one thing my coach knew was that he was going to get everything I had on every play, score didn’t matter.

The O-Line is going to be something that the new coach will have to address. Arguably the 1st item on the agenda.
Peters may have a big price tag going into the 2016 season and showed that he’s lost a step this past year. BUT replacing him is not going to be easy. The first thing the Eagles need to do on the O-Line is replace Tobin-Barbre-Gardner at RG & LG. They should try to convince Peters to move inside to LG as to move Lane to LT, then seek a RT. But that is easier said than done. If Peters doesn’t move, they focus on RG & LG and focus on developing quality depth. They can’t release Peters without having a contingency plan. And that contingency plan should not include replacing Peters with any OL currently on the roster.
Which brings me to the OL coach Jeff Stoutland. He needs to go just as much as Billy Davis. To not have a single backup OL that can be moderately competent is just as much coaching as it is lack of talent. Maybe I’m thinking of how spoiled we were as Eagles fan to have had Juan Castillo and Howard Mudd as OL coaches who were able to get quality play from backups who were average at best. For example: as much as I loathe Dennis Kelly, he looked far better on the OL during the Reid Era than any point under Chip. And Chip re-signed the guy! There were guys the Eagles brought in as scrap heap FAs under Chip, who were competent talents elsewhere who could not sniff the field here. And if they did, sucked horribly. Part talent, part coaching. #FireStoutland

I think what we’re saying is the problem is not with the owners not hiring black HCs, it’s with HCs now giving black guys an opportunity to go through the farm league, so to speak. HCs, nine times out of ten, pick their own assistants. I think that would do much more to give these guys HC opportunities than the RR would.

It is what it is whether I write it off as a stunt or not. Most teams have their list of candidates and if you have to add someone to it simply due to the color of their skin then I don’t think that guy gets a fair shake nor do I think it meets the intended purpose.

I think there are good black coaches and white coaches but it seems to me like people think because there are so many black players the ratio is off on coaches. I don’t see the correlation. There are plenty of great players who aren’t good coaches and great coaches who weren’t great players.
I think I will start to see an explosion of good qualified black positions and coordinator coaches in the next 10 years or so…

I think it is great that blacks are being considered for coaching and front office positions. But the problem with the rule is that it does not specify that the black candidate is actually qualified. Too often the candidates being interviewed are retread coaches just to meet the “I talked to a black guy” quota. I mean, how many times has Falcons WR coach Terry Robiskie been interviewed for a HC spot over the last few seasons?
For every Teryl Austin, there’s 10 Terry Robiskie’s being interviewed. And if that’s the case, just scrap the damn rule.

The problem is that career coaches tend to get picked over ex-players cause they have more experience. Just like any job. The bulk of career coaches tend to be white.

Weech No but there are a couple ways this could come into play. 1) The coach you would have interviewed gets hired while you are interviewing a minority. 2) You have a number of candidates you want to interview and 1 of them has to be a minority.
To be fair, Tiki’s time was different than today’s. Two-a-days was allowed and TC was hated early on by many players because he was so hard on the team.

to make the call on who to draft or sign, and he can’t have 75 different
highly paid assholes giving him 75 different opinions with about 1,000
different players to choose from. You need some measure of efficiency,
regardless of whatever business you’re in. Otherwise, you get too many
cooks, etc. Also, your best guys would still leave to go to some other
team just so they could be the big swinging dick who has more influence
in taking Derrick Henry off the draft board. HE’S A SYSTEM PLAYER, GUYS!

Madden found that, between 1990 and 2002, the African-American coaches in the NFL were statistically far more successful
than the white coaches, averaging nine-plus wins a season, versus eight
for their white counterparts. Sixty-nine percent of the time, the black
coaches took their teams to the playoffs, versus only 39 percent for
the others.? In their first season on the job, black coaches
took their teams to the postseason 71 percent of the time; rookie white
coaches did so just 23 percent of the time. Clearly, black coaches had
to be exceptional to win a job in the first place.
Still, due in no small part to the work of a female sociologist whose
football knowledge was admittedly modest, the NFL changed its ways. In
2003, the league implemented the so-called Rooney Rule, named for Dan Rooney,
the progressive Steelers owner who chaired the committee looking into
the issue. The rule decreed that teams interview at least one minority
applicant to fill coaching vacancies. Otherwise, the franchise would
face a stiff fine. The league achieved its aim. By 2005, there were six
African-American coaches in the NFL, including Dungy, who had been hired
by the Indianapolis Colts.
And how has this new brigade of black coaches done?? Worse than their
predecessors. Much worse, in fact. From 2003 to the present,
African-American coaches have averaged the same number of wins each
season — eight — as white coaches. They are now slightly less likely
to lead their teams to the playoffs. Their rookie seasons are
particularly shaky: they lose slightly more games than white coaches do
in their first season. In 2008, for instance, Marvin Lewis coached the Cincinnati Bengals to a 4-11-1 record, which was only slightly better than the job Romeo Crennel
did, a few hours drive away in Cleveland, where the Browns stumbled
through a 4-12 season. Lewis and Crennel still fared better than yet
another African-American coach in the Midwest, Herman Edwards, who oversaw the misbegotten Kansas City Chiefs team that went 2-14.
But, as black coaches lose more games, Madden and other supporters
nod with satisfaction. This “drop-off” is the ultimate validation of the
Rooney Rule, an indication that black coaches are being held to the
same standards as their white counterparts. “If African-American coaches
don’t fail, it means that those with equal talents to the failing white
coaches are not even getting the chance to be a coach,” Madden

According to Chris Simms, the CBS broadcaster and former NFL quarterback, the Redskins will be in the playoff picture come December.
“Just look at the roster of the Washington Redskins,” Simms said in a recent Bleacher Report video. “There’s just too much talent on this roster for them to not at least be in the playoff picture come December.”
Simms then backed up his prediction by analyzing some of the roster and explaining the positions that should be the most improved heading into 2015.
Talking largely about schemes and coaching staff changes, he likes the redefinition of the Redskins’ secondary.
“I look at the addition of safety Dashon Goldson, one of the best safeties in football, whatever position you want to say – free safety, strong safety. You’ve got Chris Culliver, a top notch free agent corner. And then Jeron Johnson, another guy that can play the safety nickel position coming from Seattle, with some young talent. We know Bashaud Breeland is there. David Amerson is there. But I do think this secondary picks up their play.”
Simms then mentioned the other key areas on the defense, including linebacker Ryand Kerrigan and defensive linemen Terrance Knighton and Jason Hatcher. He later mentions running back Alfred Morris and predicts the running game will be enhanced thanks to offensive line coach Bill Callahan.
“I think if the coaching and the talent all can be cohesive this year,” he said, “the Redskins will be in the playoff picture come December.”

Oh please, that trade wasn’t a pimple on the butt of the ‘worst trade in NFL History’, there are at least two Cowboys trades alone that were worse (Roy Williams & Joey Galloway), then there’s the probable all time worst the Hershel Walker Trade (for the Vikings). I think the RGIII trade is far worse as well.
Bill_In_FL I don’t think China has wanted to deal with them for several decades, but has been forced to play big brother to keep them in check due to their historical connection. I also am not convinced from what I’ve seen that PRNK actually accomplished what they claim (hey, there is a shock!), but even them testing a larger yield conventional nuclear weapon is bad for everyone.
