I’m pulling for the receivers to actually catch the ball and Bradford to show what he’s capable of, but if that doesn’t happen, then hell year I’ll be looking at a QB with his skills if he’s an option.

Teams that don’t have a good QB often build an overall much better roster (they have the money and high draft picks to do so) which can lead to “being struck by lightning” when you finally get a good QB on your now really strong overall roster, but it seems that MOST (not all) teams with the ACE QBs spend so much money and picks trying to retain the QB and place complimentary pieces around him, when that QB is injured or retires it throws the whole system into chaos.

This is what a friend of mine had to say about Grantland.
Grantland was an “ego site” for Bill Simmons, something to satisfy him and his “creative juices” that was supposed to keep him around when his contract came up earlier this year. After it became evident that he was leaving (and ESPN rushed that departure), it was only a matter of time before Grantland would go down. Add in the factor that ESPN is in serious need of cutting down their budget (they are committed to approximately $2 billion in rights fees with sports organizations over the next few years), it is an easy cut to make.
Bill Simmon’s columns about his trips to Las Vegas are great. Reminds me of my trips. (albeit with fewer drugs and strippers)

I’ve watched most eagle games. I’ve seen guys on the defense playing well, including their safeties (really good play) Cox (consistently good) their other inside tackle (maybe better at times than wven Cox) and Thornton, who I really like. Barwon has moments, but Curry…not so much.
This isn’t a Philly hate thing, it’s was an honest opinion about a guy I haven’t seen show much.
He’s played well in a pretty limited roll, which has been the case for a few years now. A lot of teams would be interested in his skill set, as he has a very quick first step. You’d know that if you really watched him play. He has a sack and 5 QB hurries while playing less than a third of the Eagles defensive snaps.

Putting players like that on the block is not an indictment of their personal value, but rather because they are simply one of the few pieces on the team that can net them assets in return.
Given the precarious nature of betting it all on the draft, I’d still prefer to keep those established guys instead, but that will never stop guys from panicking. It’s all monopoly money to us fans in the end, but it is their jobs on the line.

The game plan with Weeden was simple. Play safe small ball which helps eat clock and give the defense rest between drives, and with Weeden, doing that, we scored more points per game and had a higher average time of possession, and that was playing against superior competition. The idea was with expected good defensive performance, we would do well enough to get a few wins, what we didn’t have when Weeden was playing was anywhere near our normal starting caliber defense out there. We went into games with 3/4 of the DL and 1/3 of the starting LB corps out and the defense couldn’t hold our opponents, especially late in games.
With Cassel, we’re neither playing safe nor are we eating time and giving the defense longer breaks before returning to the field, and we are also scoring less points, and scoring less against inferior competition. We now have a guy who can barely complete half of his goddamn passes, and let me tell you, 2nd and 6’s and 3rd and 3’s beats the fuck out of 2nd and 10 and 3rd and 10. Cassel has had better defensive and rushing performances assisting him than Weeden had and he’s doing less with it.
THATS THE BOTTOM LINE.
