Fiversons No Spin Zone I chose to remain non-specific to enhance the possibility of my prediction being true.
I’m not sure if I should go on record with a 19-0 for the Eagles with Sam winning the SB and regular season MVPs but it’s a very likely scenario.
Mine weren’t very bold either, I must have missed the memo…
I predicted:
Dallas 12-4, 2nd seed, Bold: Defense gives up less than 300 points
Philly 11-5, 5th seed, Bold: Bradford misses 4 games plus the playoffs
Giants: 7-9, Bold: Defense gives up 425+ points
Skins: 4-12, Bold: Gruden fired and replaced by Callahan in early December.

This seems to be overblown, mostly because it’s not the college system’s job to produce NFL QBs, it’s to produce guys who can win without a crazy in depth game plan for each opponent weekly.

Sir Squatch When the college debt bubble bursts, this will no longer be a problem.
No one is preventing a college player from getting a good degree (if the school has a good dept. for that subject). But the charge here is that college coaches and programs have made QBs less well prepared for the NFL so that they can put up higher scoring results at the college level. They are making their job easier and passing on the developmental burden to pro coaches.
Sam Bradford will be the only East QB to start every game until the Eagles have home field advantage clinched. Book It!

cloisterwater I mentioned how athletic QBs are coveted in HS and college ranks and usually put into programs that stress different skill sets than what is needed at the pro level, and how the legal maximum practice hours per week for student athletes mean schools can’t afford to teach skill sets that aren’t essential to winning in the team’s system but are essential to the pro career, and then it’s all compounded by the way NFL teams tend to thrust these QBs into the starter position well before they are ready because the “what have you done for me lately” attitude doesn’t allow for development time for QBs unless the team already has a franchise QB as the starter, QB needy teams can’t afford to take time to develop because GM and coaches can’t wait that long as they will be fired before the QB has had a year or two on the bench to learn the game.

HailBandG Maybe NFL coaches should be adapting to the skill sets coming to them, not forcing QBs with talent in areas other than pocket passing to trying and run a “traditional” NFL offense.
I don’t think big time colleges have any problem making money, whether they develop better prepared QBs or not. Why not teach your QBs the basics of a route tree, how to read progressions, how to learn even a stripped-down passing playbook, how to receive and transmit plays during a drive? All of these coaches who aren’t teaching these things know how to teach them. It’s not about the NFL, it’s about what is best for the average kid trying to be a better QB (if he has a chance to get a look by one or more NFL teams).

MVP You still have to admit that there’s a bit of inconsistency to how the chart reports. In certain cases, they refer to the player having a horrible season after being featured on the cover. In others, they refer to the player having a horrible career after being featured.
Weech Still, some of their careers fell apart after the Madden cover, others just had very sub par next seasons or had major injury the next season. Either way, the year after making the cover tends to be a pretty shitty year.

I’d be ok with them bringing Thurmond up to the slot and Rowe going in as safety when they play nickel. I don’t think Rowe is ready to play CB at this level and is probably more suited to play safety as the bulk of his experience is at that position.

That was one of the most interesting parts of the article. I always wondered who that huge dude that you always see on the sidelines was. I’m not certain its Dom, but I’m comfortable with that explanation.

Mincey (and Romo) too high. Course aroma plays the most important position so I guess it’s understandable, but purely based on talent, I’d put Smith above him. Not bad list though.

They should wait until they get a feel for where the season is going. If a rebuild is needed next year that contract could be a problem.
34 isn’t too old for a QB though, particularly one as durable as Eli. And it’s not like the MLB or the NBA; rebuilds can be much quicker in the NFL. So even if the season goes south and there is a rebuild, Eli will probably be a part of it.
