It has been over a week since the last update of the week. Unfortunately this means that the actual updates are rather lengthy at this point. Per Cinco I have deleted the original opening article, to keep this one smaller. Please enjoy responsibly, and remember donate to the Keal Drinking Fund today.
Zorstique’s Mariners Update of the Day. – 6/20/2016
For the 3rd straight series the Mariners failed to sweep a team, instead going 1-2. This last series against the Red Sox ended up being almost exactly the same as the last Rangers series. One game (Friday) was all Mariners (8-4), one game (Saturday) was all Red Sox (6-2), and one game (Sunday) was an epic pitching match that the Mariners just could not pull off (2-1.) More significantly, the Mariners are likely out another pitcher, as Taijaun Walker left again after 5 scoreless innings with foot problems. The Mariners cannot afford to lose another pitcher, with Felix and Wade Miley injured. We might want to look into getting another pitcher or two into the rotation. The Mariners are now 8.5 games behind the Rangers for 1st place in the AL West. It might be a good idea for the Mariners to stop screwing around and win some games, before the Rangers get too far ahead. Winning 1 of 3 is just not getting it done.

Sorry for the delay, I am home sick. The joy of having young ones around I guess, they are walking cesspools. Man I love them.
The Mariners lost yet again. 5-12 over the last 17 is plain awful. What was an epic pitching battle (in the bad way) lead to the Mariners losing 8-7. Fear not though, Munkey guaranteed that we would go 3-1 against the Tigers. Be safe gents.

Naturally the Mariners lost again yesterday. They were up late in the game, just to see the game get away from them in the 8th. Interesting side note, The Mariners have been up late in every game for the last 9, but only won 2 of said games. The Mariners really need to figure out a way to close out these games. We are now 9.5 games behind the Rangers, and the Astros are only 0.5 games behind us.

This might come as a surprise, but the Mariners lost last night. It was a really close game. The Tigers drew first blood, scoring a run in the first inning. The Mariners answered back in the 5th trying to tie the game with a solo run themselves. Unfortunately however, the Tigers also scored 2 runs in the 2nd, and one in the 4th and 5th. Tigers end up winning 5-1. The Mariners have now dropped to .500, and down to 3rd place in the AL West, losing 8 of the last 10 games. The Mariners have one more game against the Tigers (trying to get to 0-4) before they head home for 9 games. Luckily the Mariners have shown no desire to win at home, so there is only down from here.
Zorstique’s Mariners Update of the Day: – 6/24/2016
Looking at the calendar last night, I am scheduled to take the boy and two of his friends to Safeco tonight. Saturday night the wife, boy and girl are penciled in. And on Sunday I have the boy, the girl and one of her friends. I am pretty sure the boy is going to want to go rain or shine, but it might be interesting to see if anyone else decides to be a “no show”. Personally I would not be that upset if I did not spend my entire weekend watching the Mariners lose. So clearly, the Mariners are going to start winning again, right?

The Mariners are back to .500 after taking the series 2-1 against the Cardinals. The Mariners front office finally listened to my complaints, and are trying to fix the outfield. They optioned Aoki which frees up left field for someone who can hopefully play outfield. Now we just need to find someone who can play left field, and we are doing good. Friday night the boy, 2 of his friends and I not only received Felix bobble head, but also enjoyed a walk off 3 run homer from Lind, Mariners won 4-3. Saturday the wife, boy and girl enjoyed a 80’s theme night. We each received a retro Mariners cap and were rewarded by a rare Mariners treat. The Mariners jumped ahead 5-0 in the second and held on to win 5-4! We do not get to see this very often. Sunday was not the best part of the series, even though I received some grilling tongs. Me, the boy, the girl, and one of her friends showed up hoping for the sweep. Instead the Mariners lost 11-6. Unfortunately it was a hard day for our favorite 3rd baseman Kyle Seager, as he picked up an error. Safeco was filled with red this weekend. I have never seen so many opponent fans. It was a lot of fun to talk to the other fans, outside of the guy right behind us. He quickly realized that my grandson did not like heckling of Kyle Seager, so he went out of his way to antagonize him. He was eventually “dealt” with by fellow Cardinal fans, but he did get the boy close to tears. The Mariners have a much needed day of rest today, and then have 2 games against the Pirates.
Zorstique’s Mariners Update of the Day: – 6/30/2016
I missed the last couple of games, as I was busy chaperoning the grand daughters birthday party. According to the box scores, the Mariners split the series with the Pirates, 1-1. I can only guess that Miley coming back from injury did not end well, but I am sure Munkey gave better detail as the appointed Update of the Day representative. The positive news is the Mariners are 3-2 so far this home stretch, but it does not get much easier with a 4 game series against the Orioles coming up next. Hopefully we can pull of 2 or 3 wins against a pretty good team. Time will tell. Are we ever going to have stable pitching again?
Zorstique’s Dae Ho Lee Update of the Day:
Yesterday I said that I thought Dae Ho was going to do something, hopefully good. Well he did. A 2 RBI night for Dae Ho helped propel the Mariners over the Orioles, 5-3. He even took care of 1/3 of the outs in the top of the 9th, ensuring the game only lasted 8.5 innings. (Side note, the Mariners were under .500 when they played Dae Ho off and on. They are at .667 since he started playing every night.) Even the bum Benoit could not ruin this night, but he sure tried. Walking one, allowing 2 hits, 2 runs, and scaring the crap out of everyone. I never did like him as an option and he needs to go away. I am pretty sure Diaz can handle his inning, and quite possibly the closer job as well. A couple other people helped out, a 2 run homer by Smith, a RBI by our favorite 3rd baseman Kyle Seager (50 on the year), and welcome back Taijuan Walker! I think he struck out only 5, but it was into the 4th before the homerun leading team even sniffed 1st base. And he got out trying to test Martin’s arm to second. Walker did give up a solo homerun, allowing only 1 run, 4 hits and no walks. And he pitched into the 7th!
