I think ‘Not for real’ is an overstatement. Are they a dominating SB contender? No, but then again, who in the league is right now.
But they are ‘for real’ in that they are a good team. Any defense that is as high as Dallas’ (tied for 7th) in the most important defensiive stat – points allowed after 6 games is ‘for real’.

I think Cousins is partly to blame. He’s played well enough to keep them in most games but he just can’t stop making the big mistakes. I don’t see many other backup QBs being able to win games with the ST fuckups and the bad bounces the Skins have gotten either though.

We can find lots of examples of good teams being led by backup QBs to glory. Skins did it with Doug Williams. Point is, most of those teams that continue to play well are already stacked. We can also find a lot more examples of a team falling apart when their starter goes down…
This years Skins are not among the stacked teams that can be led by a lesser QB. We need a QB that limits mistakes and helps them keep the ball via the running game (this is on the coaches IMO).

The scoreboard is spinning like never before. NFL point production is the highest ever. Baylor and TCU just played the highest scoring game ever between two Top 10 college football teams. In the NCAA, a hard-to-believe 63 college teams scored at least 50 points in the past week’s action.
Is this too much of a good thing?
Football is a form of entertainment, and scoring is entertaining. “Offense sells tickets. Defense wins titles” is the folk wisdom on the topic. Most audiences would rather watch a 38-35 game than a 10-7 contest. But if scoring keeps rising, and football becomes perceived as basketball on grass, will the dramatic tension of the sport be reduced?

Not really. I’d argue there was more pressure to win this week on the Skins than either Seattle or Dallas. You look at pressure under the context of the current situation.
Currently, teams in the lead of their divisions, or close to it, are under less “pressure” than teams fighting for their seasons. Had Dallas lost, they’d still be 4-2 and in fine shape.
Any contests “big” factor has to be defined by the stakes. There was little on the line for Dallas this week.

Now, Dallas is expected to win and, if they don’t (Giants are NOT as bad as they looked Sunday and they have a point to prove) it will be ‘same old Cowboys, they aren’t as good as we thought’.
If they lost to Seattle there would be far less pressure.

The entire Giants team played like a giant bag of shit. there is no justifying not 1 good thing from Sunday night b/c there were none! they got their asses handed to them for talking too much shit. an all around ass whooping. they were out-played and out-coached from the opening whistle to the last. The point, regarding JPP (and any pass rusher) is that getting to the QB is the #1 job. Run D is nice but if you’re not getting to the QB, you’re not getting it done.
Rak’s in the same boat. He’s doing lots of other things well but he’s not sacking the QB and therefore…he is not doing his job.
