So keys for the game: Giants go back to what they were doing during their 3 games win streak. Dallas to keep their defense on HGH.

Really need to cut code so the articles and tweets and shit are all separate from Livefyre, so it can be centered and wide no matter how the content above is formatted. Getaway day coincided with picture day for the Eagles, and Chip Kelly used that combination to generate one last show of efficiency before sending players off for a week of rest.
“We set a record: four minutes and forty seconds. We got everybody — the entire team, every position group, the coaches and the training staff done in four minutes and forty seconds,” said Kelly. “Oh, it was tempo. And I would challenge anybody [to match that].”

Coughlin said Monday that he thought his team had prepared well, but Kiwanuka indicated the players could have done more, when asked to expand on what it means to “grow up.”
“When I say it, what I mean is, showing up every day early, wide awake, taking notes, going out to practice, and knowing that you’re gonna make mistakes but working tirelessly to correct those mistakes during the course of the week,” Kiwanuka said. “And continuing to watch film, to study your opponent, to get your rest, to do all the cold tub, contrast — all the things you need to do to get your body ready, instead of doing something that may be more fun or more relaxing.

I think ‘Not for real’ is an overstatement. Are they a dominating SB contender? No, but then again, who in the league is right now.
But they are ‘for real’ in that they are a good team. Any defense that is as high as Dallas’ (tied for 7th) in the most important defensiive stat – points allowed after 6 games is ‘for real’.

Well well well, look who might have been onto to something when I mentioned this yesterday……Suck it Giants!
The New York Daily News reports that the Giants have “some interest” in disgruntled Bills WR Mike Williams. In the wake of Victor Cruz’s season-ending knee injury, the Giants will at least explore Williams. He’s been granted permission to seek a trade after getting scratched in Week 6. Still, the Giants would be insane to give up compensation for an average player who is set to make $5.2 million guaranteed in 2015. They’re better off going in-house, expanding Odell Beckham’s role and giving Preston Parker/Corey Washington shots. We can find lots of examples of good teams being led by backup QBs to glory. Skins did it with Doug Williams. Point is, most of those teams that continue to play well are already stacked. We can also find a lot more examples of a team falling apart when their starter goes down…
This years Skins are not among the stacked teams that can be led by a lesser QB. We need a QB that limits mistakes and helps them keep the ball via the running game (this is on the coaches IMO).

CSN Washington suggests it’s possible Robert Griffin III (ankle) could return for the Redskins’ Week 8 game against the Cowboys.Griffin has been cleared for individual drills, and coach Jay Gruden said he could get in some practice reps next week. The Redskins want to get him a full week of practice before playing in a game, so Week 8 would be his earliest return. From TMQ today, a decent point:
The scoreboard is spinning like never before. NFL point production is the highest ever. Baylor and TCU just played the highest scoring game ever between two Top 10 college football teams. In the NCAA, a hard-to-believe 63 college teams scored at least 50 points in the past week’s action.
Is this too much of a good thing?
Football is a form of entertainment, and scoring is entertaining. “Offense sells tickets. Defense wins titles” is the folk wisdom on the topic. Most audiences would rather watch a 38-35 game than a 10-7 contest. But if scoring keeps rising, and football becomes perceived as basketball on grass, will the dramatic tension of the sport be reduced?

Okay, but riddle me this. If a team wins early in the season, doesn’t that tend to make the games at the end of the season less important?
If a team enters the last 4 games 10-2 with a lock on the division, doesn’t that tend to make the last 4 games less important and arguably none of them would be ‘big’ games?

splooz
October 14, 2014 at 5:40 pm
Not really. I’d argue there was more pressure to win this week on the Skins than either Seattle or Dallas. You look at pressure under the context of the current situation.
Currently, teams in the lead of their divisions, or close to it, are under less “pressure” than teams fighting for their seasons. Had Dallas lost, they’d still be 4-2 and in fine shape.
Any contests “big” factor has to be defined by the stakes. There was little on the line for Dallas this week.

I disagree. There is an enormous amount of pressure on Dallas this week because of the win over Seattle and that it is a division game.
Now, Dallas is expected to win and, if they don’t (Giants are NOT as bad as they looked Sunday and they have a point to prove) it will be ‘same old Cowboys, they aren’t as good as we thought’.
If they lost to Seattle there would be far less pressure.
