2016 NFL Draft Order (No Trades)
1. Tennessee Titans 3-13
Joey Bosa, DE/OLB, Ohio State
Most likely the best prospect in the entire draft. Disruptive. He can help a defense turn the corner.
2. Cleveland Browns 3-13
Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State
The ascending pick. He has all the tools. The new HC needs a quality QB and he has higher upside than Goff or Lynch.
3. San Diego Chargers 4-12
Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss
They need to keep the QB upright. They had all kinds of problems at OT last season, if he is available… they have to grab him.
4. Dallas Cowboys 4-12
Noah Spence, DE, Eastern Kentucky
Pass Rusher is a high priority now for the Cowboys. They have a guy suspended for 1/2 the season and another one that they will let leave.
5. Jacksonville Jaguars 5-11
Myles Jack, LB/RB, UCLA
Front 7 contributor. Would help a defense needing quality players and play makers. Should start from day one.
6. Baltimore Ravens 5-11
Jaylon Smith, LB, Notre Dame
When healthy, he could be the top guy in the whole draft.
7. San Francisco 49ers 5-11
Jalen Ramsey, S/CB, Florida State
The need in the secondary is apparent. The scheme flexibility of this player would fit nicely into 49ers secondary.
8. Miami Dolphins 6-10
DeForest Buckner, DE/DT, Oregon
Let’s make the DL even better by adding in some talent around DT Suh.
9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 6-10
Vernon Hargreaves, CB, Florida
They need some help on defense, so why not grab a nice CB with the #9 pick.
10. New York Giants 6-10
Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio State
They need a solid RB and here is a nice fit for both the player and the team.
11. Chicago Bears 6-10
Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss
They need some help on the outside. He is more a #2 WR, but he can make plays and if Jeffery is resigned, a nice 1-2 punch for the Bears.
12. New Orleans Saints 7-9
Jared Goff, QB, California
Old man Brees can’t last forever. A year sitting behind a legend would be the perfect situation for Goff. Think of it as a Favre/Rodgers set-up.
13. Philadelphia Eagles 7-9
Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis
Eagles need a QB. As of right now, they have zero legit prospects on the roster. Bradford likely is gone, so this is a need pick.
14. Oakland Raiders 7-9
Corey Coleman, WR, Baylor
Speed at WR, exactly what the Raiders need to go to the next level on offense. A legit down the field threat, to open up space for Cooper to operate.
15. Los Angeles Rams 7-9
Emmanuel Ogbah, DE, Oklahoma State
Pass rusher. He can step into the front 7 and contribute. Shocker, another DL pick 1st round.
16. Detroit Lions 7-9
Robert Nkemdiche, DE/DT, Ole Miss
Off the field is a risk, but on the field… he would be excatly what they need. A guy that can play inside or outside.
17. Atlanta Falcons 8-8
Andrew Billings, DT, Baylor
Keep building the front 7. Falcons started off hot, then got tripped up late in the year. This player is disruptive on both passing and rushing downs.
18. Indianapolis Colts 8-8
Sheldon Rankins, DT, Louisville
Very under-rated player. He would be an immediate starter and solidify a historically (as of late) DL in Coltsland.
19. Buffalo Bills 8-8
A’Shawn Robinson, DE/DT, Alabama
With the impeding loss of at least 1 star along the DL, time to reload with a new star that is more than a load along the DL.
20. New York Jets 10-6
Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame
Rebuild the OL… and if this guy is sitting there at number 20, you take him.
21. Washington Redskins 9-7
Leonard Floyd, DE/OLB, Georgia
Quality player. Redskins are turning the corner overall, so they need to keep building the defense for a top 15 finish in 2016.
22. Houston Texans 9-7
Reggie Ragland, ILB, Alabama
With some losses in the LB group, the need for some youth and play makers is too much to pass on a quality ILB at #22.
23. Minnesota Vikings 11-5
Kendall Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
The secondary was decent, but you can’t count on the Packers playing like garbage on offense in 2016. The need for 3-4 quality CBs pushes the Vikings to grab another quality player.
24. Cincinnati Bengals 12-4
Jarran Reed, DT, Alabama
DL help is always warranted, especially with the NFCN having some of the largest RBs in the NFL.
25. Pittsburgh Steelers 10-6
Hunter Henry, TE, Arkansas
The Steelers could use a WR or a TE to open up the field. Henry is the most complete TE there is in the draft. And yes, Heath Miller retired, making this an obvious election.
26. Seattle Seahawks 10-6
Christian Westerman, OG, ASU
Seattle needs to bolster the OL. They need a very good player at the LG spot and this guy has all the tools that seem to fit what Seattle looks for in their prospects.
27. Green Bay Packers 10-6
Jack Conklin, OT, Michigan State
The beat down Rodgers took in the postseason, was not a good look. Time to upgrade the OT spot, so he can do Rodgers things.
28. Kansas City Chiefs 11-5
Adolphus Washington, DE/DT, Ohio State
Flexibility along the DL is a true asset. The Chiefs have some holes up fraont, if the UFAs bolt. Might as well reload with a quality player.
29. Arizona Cardinals 13-3
Miles Killebrew, S/LB, Southern Utah
Honey Badger has sustained two major knee injuries as of late. Another player who can step in and play at multiple spots would be my pick for them.
30. Carolina Panthers 15-1
Eli Apple, CB, Ohio State
Good all round CB. He would be able to play Robin to Norman’s Batman.
31. Denver Broncos 12-4
Derrick Henry, RB, Alabama
The Broncos in 2015 love to grind it out and a large RB is part of their MO. Extremely gifted athlete, who could really carve up defenses as a relief back in his first season. Also nice insurance policy if injuries hit the RB position again in 2016.
Not bad for a first mock draft. I can easily see anyone from #26 down trading back, so a team could swoop in a pick up the QB Cook late in the first. But, to keep it simple, no trades today. 🙂
