For the first time since 2013, Chuck won’t be the only one making picks on this site. I’m back and I’m ready to show the mythical horned horse who’s boss.
New York Jets at Buffalo Bills
The Jets were stunned at home while the Bills lost a stinker to the Ravens. One of these teams needs to bounce back, and if the last 2 seasons are any indication, the Bills will win. They have the Jets’ number.
Pick: Bills 31 Jets 10
Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers
The Bengals a feeling good after escaping the Meadowlands with a win, but Pittsburgh played on a whole ‘nother level against the Redskins on Monday. Their offense is clicking and I think they do it again.
Pick: Steelers 37 Bengals 17
Tennessee Titans at Detroit Lions
Who could forget the last time these teams played, as a goofy call to go for it on 4th down cost the Lions the game. This time around, it’s in Detroit and the Titans have won 5 games in 33 tries. This one’s easy.
Pick: Lion 27 Titans 13
Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns
The Browns looked completely inept against a subpar Eagles team and are now going to be starting Josh McCown at quarterback. The Ravens at least look competent, and they’ll win easily
Pick: Ravens 24 Browns 0
Dallas Cowboys at Washington Redskins
If this game was a week ago, I would have said the Redskins were a lock. Now I’m not so sure considering how terrible they looked against the Steelers. I’m still picking them, but I think it will be a close game.
Pick: Redskins 20 Cowboys 14
New Orleans Saints at New York Giants
The last 4 times these teams have played, at least one of them scored over 40 points, Last time they both did in one of the best games in NFL history. The Giants have the upper hand at home and I think they take this one.
Pick: Giants 45 Saints 35
San Francisco 49ers at Carolina Panthers
Great win for the 49ers last week, but now they get a far tougher test flying across the country on a short week. The Panthers are likely frustrated after losing a tough one to the Broncos, so I think they quickly bring the 49ers back to earth.
Pick: Panthers 27 49ers 13
Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots
Garoppolo showed he can win tough games on the road in Brady’s stead, so playing the Dolphins at home should be cake.
Pick: Patriots 31 Dolphins 21
Kansas City Chiefs at Houston Texans
The Chiefs played in Houston twice last year and won convincingly both times. The Texans finally got a decent quarterback, but I think this one will be a defensive slugfest, with the Chiefs eeking out a win.
Pick: Chiefs 13 Texans 9
Seattle Seahawks at Los Angeles Rams
The first game in Los Angeles in 22 years! The Rams better come out more prepared than last Monday, or else this one could get ugly. I think they do, but still lose.
Pick: Seahawks 15 Rams 13
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Arizona Cardinals
Disappointing opener for the Cardinals, while the Bucs clobbered the Falcons in the Georgia Dome. This one will be closer than anticipated, but the Cardinals will prevail.
Pick: Cardinals 26 Buccaneers 25
Jacksonville Jaguars at San Diego Chargers
The Jaguars offense looks much better than it did a year ago and the Chargers showed that they are still prone to coughing games up that they should not. Jacksonville is the better team, and I think they get the W.
Pick: Jaguars 28 Chargers 25
Atlanta Falcons at Oakland Raiders
Atlanta’s defense looked no better than it did a year ago and their offense failed to get much going until it was too late against the Buccaneers. The Raiders shocked the Saints in the Superdome and I think their offense has a field day again.
Pick: Raiders 34 Falcons 24
Indianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos
The Broncos earned a 1 point win at home in their Super Bowl rematch and I think they do it again this week, by one point.
Pick: Broncos 13 Colts 12
Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings
If the Vikings had someone better than Sam Bradford or Shaun Hill at quarterback, I might have picked them to win this game. However, they don’t, and the Packers still have Aaron Rodgers.
Pick: Packers 31 Vikings 26
Philadelphia Eagles at Chicago Bears
Great matchup between mediocre teams on Sunday. Who will prevail? Chicago has a more balanced attack and should get the win at home.
Pick: Bears 29 Eagles 23
