So I was visiting a friend yesterday, he got word from the police about a complaint that was filed against them, (sure enough, the department found no wrongdoing by their officers).
Basically requested an ambulance after having an extreme hypoglycemic episode with his diabetes (basically he was dying and was extremely weak but also disoriented and combative, and the cops were told he would be in that state), the cops get there before the ambulance and manage to have him face down (knocked out after a knee pinning him by the back of the neck) and in cuffs, telling us to stop complaining and get back or we will be tased and arrested, then they get into a fight with the EMTs when they get there (who want them to uncuff the guy and leave so they can revive him) and they start trying to bully the EMTs and then the fire rescue medics get there and basically threaten to help the ambulance guys jump the cops and kick their ass. Cops finally leave and the EMTs take away the friend. We filed a complaint and yesterday we got the answer.

Here’s a funny medical story. I can’t. There is a lot of strategy involved in baseball. Coaching, as in football, can make all the difference. I can appreciate a great fastball, a monster home run, a play at the plate. Those things require a lot of skill. To me basketball is still about one thing- putting the ball through a hoop. I agree baseball is way too slow but with basketball you can almost always skip 95% of the game and just tune in for the last 2 or 3 minutes to see who will take the lead and win. Who cares if you miss all of the previous exciting baskets, dunks and fouls.

Just to add to the whole thing about basketball and skill. I think it requires a lot more skill than you give it credit for. A lot of dudes front on that shit, but their personal game when they play hoops with their buddies is not as good as they want to think. Basketball’s skill is more about conditioning and mechanics than anything else. As for the coaching, try thinking of it a way like when you see a coordinator sitting in a booth. Sometimes in the heat of the moment, these players aren’t seeing where the opens guys are or what their defensive coverages are lacking, especially on the pick and roll.

If there is a silver lining to DeAngelo Hall’s season-ending injury, it’s that rookie corner Bashaud Breeland has been forced into action. Breeland has made a few mistakes, as any rookie does, but has improved every game and played fantastically well against the Cowboys. Coming off that performance, it was interesting to see how Breeland responded to the hype and praise he received. The Redskins switched up their game plan, which saw Breeland in zone coverage much more than man, but he still impressed in the few man coverage snaps he had.

This was an excellent play from Breeland. He’s much more comfortable in man coverage and has proven tough to beat in the past few weeks. But he also excels in his run defense.

As soon as Breeland reads run, he breaks towards the line of scrimmage closes ground quickly and closes off the edge to the running back. Breeland then makes the initial tackle and keeps the gain to a minimum.
It’s plays like that which lead people to believe Breeland could make for a good safety. But as long as he keeps playing strong coverage on the outside, his value is much higher at corner.
We may have a monster CB on our hands for a 4th rd pick.

What Jeremy Maclin has done in the first half of the Eagles season compares very favorably to what Owens did that year. Maclin, however, is getting it done without all the extraneous drama that eventually led to Owens’ exit.
Halfway through the season, Maclin has four fewer receptions, one fewer touchdown and 40 more receiving yards than Owens did at the same point 10 years ago. And, just like Owens, the Eagles will have a decision to make on Maclin after the season.
Maclin, 26, made a huge wager on himself by accepting a 1-year contract after missing all of 2013 with a torn ACL in his right knee. The 6-year pro is in the midst of a career year and in line to cash in after the season.

The only word you need to know for this film breakdown? Scissors. Scissors is a two man route concept. The outside receiver runs a Post route while the inside receiver runs a corner route. It’s a Cover 3 beater (can also beat man depending on who is running the routes). Why is this so significant? Well, it started last week.

Owens had 14 touchdown receptions in 2004 to set the Eagles record. He might have had a few more, but his regular season ended in Game 14 when he severely injured his right leg against the Cowboys. With home-field clinched, coach Andy Reid mostly rested his regulars in Games 15 and 16, so his chances to add to his TD total would have been limited.
Maclin is the primary receiver for the first time in his Eagles career. Through eight games, Maclin has 45 catches for 790 yards and eight touchdowns. Owens had nine touchdowns through eight games. And as tight as the NFC is, Chip Kelly will not be resting his regulars at the end of the season.

I do wonder what kind of deal he would be looking at. I imagine they want to lock him up but this is also the second consecutive year a WR had a career year in the Eagles offense under Kelly, and two of their top three draft choices last year were WRs.

from sportrac: If the Eagles let him test the market (and they won’t), Maclin should become the “reasonably priced” option for teams who may not be able to bid for a Demaryius Thomas or Dez Bryant. He projects to be worth the $12M per year that Mike Wallace received from the Dolphins 2 free agent classes ago.

Two things about that make me nervous. 1. The idea that Maclin is worth $12M/yr, and 2. the idea that $12M/yr is “reasonably priced”.

He’s playing great, but last year Desean had a career year in the Eagles offense. This year Maclin is having a career year in the Eagles offense. Cooper and Shady both had career years in the Eagles offense last year. The Eagles are pretty good about buying low and selling high, and signing a guy off his career year can get you into trouble. I wonder what a guy like Crabtree, who is slated to be a FA, or Torrey Smith might bring to the table at a much more reasonable pricetag.
