After a rough first two weeks of picking, last week I did pretty good, finishing 10-6 in a week where there was a ton of upsets. Thanks to a decent week for me and an unfortunate week for Chuck, we’re dead even at 26-22 through three weeks.
And now for week 4. Let’s pick!
Miami Dolphins at Cincinnati Bengals
Squeezing out a home win over the hapless Browns is not an impressive first win by any means. The Bengals have struggled this year, but they’ll take this one easily.
Pick: Bengals 30 Dolphins 14
Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars lose a home game to the unfortunately continuing NFL International Series and I keep losing when I pick them to win. Last chance! This one is winnable and I think they get it done.
Pick: Jaguars 34 Colts 26
Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans
There are very few players who can make a defense go from extraordinary to ordinary when they are out. JJ Watt is one of them. The Texans laid an egg, or rather a series of them as they failed to do anything against a Patriots team with their third string quarterback. I’m picking the upset here.
Pick: Titans 24 Texans 21
Cleveland Browns at Washington Redskins
After starting the season as bad as you possibly can, the Redskins righted a lot of their wrongs last week, while the Browns are still the Browns. This one will get ugly.
Pick: Redskins 45 Browns 10
Seattle Seahawks at New York Jets
Fitzpatrick threw 6 picks last week. It’s almost like he was playing for the Chiefs. It does not get much better with the Seahawks visiting.
Pick: Seahawks 22 Jets 9
Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots
Who’s New England’s starting quarterback these days? The better question is who cares? They’ll still win this one.
Pick: Patriots 28 Bills 24
Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons
The Panthers offense looked incredibly ugly against the Vikings last week, and they are heading to the only place they didt win last year. Will they do it this time? I don’t think so.
Pick: Falcons 27 Panthers 14
Oakland Raiders at Baltimore Ravens
I picked the Raiders to win all three of their games so far. Not this week. Baltimore’s defense is superior and they are at home, so I’ll go with them.
Pick: Ravens 23 Raiders 17
Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears
That game in Indianapolis seems like a mirage at this point as the Lions have not won since. Then again, Chicago hasn’t won yet this season. This one could go either way, but if I had a gun to my head, I’d choose the Bears.
Pick: Bears 27 Lions 24
Denver Broncos at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers got shredded by the Rams last week and now face the Super Bowl Champs. I think Denver’s defense gets nasty and clamps down on the Bucs.
Pick: Broncos 27 Buccaneers 6
Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals
Impressive win for the Rams last week. Much tougher test for them this time though. I doubt this one’s close.
Pick: Cardinals 34 Rams 7
New Orleans Saints at San Diego Chargers
Drew Brees returns to his old stomping grounds for the first time as a Saint. This one should be a great game with the Saints coming out on top.
Pick: Saints 30 Chargers 27
Dallas Cowboys at San Francisco 49ers
The Cowboys have won two straight for the first time since weeks 1 and 2 in 2015. The 49ers have lost by 19 points in each of their last 2 games. This classic rivalry isn’t what it once was, but I think it will still be a good game with the Niners edging the ‘Boys.
Pick: 49ers 24 Cowboys 17
Kansas City Chiefs at Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers interstate rivalry game was a disaster in every way last Sunday. I’ve never seen the Steelers play worse in any game in my entire life. The Chiefs defense looked great last week and I think Alex Smith makes just enough plays to pull out a victory.
Pick: Chiefs 27 Steelers 20
New York Giants at Minnesota Vikings
We all know what happened last year when the Giants went to Minneapolis. Expect it to be more of the same this week.
Pick: Vikings 30 Giants 10
