The 49ers are in last place because they’re pathetic. It feels right to me – but believe it or not Knowledge Seekers, it hasn’t always been that way. Some very fine people have passed through that organization. My Analysis:
It feels like just last week I predicted that all 4 NFCW teams would be within one game of one another. And it feels like five weeks ago I said the gap between the Seahawks and 49ers had closed. It also feels like three weeks ago I said that a two-game win streak could upend the NFCW Standings. You get the idea. And now the Mighty Seahawks – winners of 2 of their last 7 – could be 5 days away from seizing a share of First Place. It makes me proud to be an NFCW fan.
Meanwhile, the Last Place 49ers are going nowhere fast, and it’s because of Kyle Shanahan and Brock Purdy. On paper, they appear to be a “successful” duo (other than the whole “Super Bowl” thing), but that’s because Purdy’s teammates have been carrying him for his entire career. Don’t believe me? Here’s some Supplemental Knowledge.
Brock will be fine as long as all 6 of his All-Pro Offensive teammates stay healthy forever and agree to pay-cuts this offseason. Outside of that, the Niners are screwed. Purdy was useless at home against the 22nd ranked Defense, and he has clearly regressed in his third year as starter – a time when most elite QBs are just beginning to thrive.. even WITHOUT 6 All-Pro Offensive teammates.
Meanwhile, Shanahan (with the #2 ranked Offense) was outcoached by Rookie HC Mike MacDominant (with the #22 ranked Defense). Kyle’s team has choked away a 4+ point lead in the 4th Quarter against all three NFCW teams this year. I think that’s funny. With the Packers, Bills, Cardinals, Rams and Lions remaining on their schedule, Shanahan might be heading towards his 4th losing season in 8 years. Safe to say, we could be seeing the end of an era in San Francisco. I love it when that happens.
And now, how about your feedback? This week’s BKOB Report had a lot of Knowledge for you to digest. Take as long as you need, then join us in the Comments Section below!!
