AFC North Offseason Roundup

As much as all of you surely enjoyed Gemini’s contributions, I regret to inform you I’m back…for now, anyway.  I reserve the well-earned right to enable my more-informed AI counterpart(s) to take over if needed, and as personal laziness dictates.

Anyway, human interjection in these interesting NFL times is probably needed.  After all, avid watchers of the AFC North are keenly aware of this week’s impactful trade activities (thus far) and are now clamoring for actual insight and clarification.

    No?

Well, here’s some links and stuff.  Enjoy.

    Baltimore Ravens

QB Lamar Jackson is no longer a kid, and is adjusting to a new head coach, several new coordinators and a new offense.  So far, so good.

DT Nnamdi Madubuike remains a key component of the Ravens projected defensive line, and its biggest question mark.  Head coach Jesse Minter comments on Madubuike’s status.

    Cincinnati Bengals

WR Ja’Marr Chase, annually the Bengals’ healthiest offensive contributor, reflects on his absences from team OTAs and on the acquisition of all-pro DT Dexter Lawrence.

Uber NFL correspondent Adam Schefter feels good about the Bengals.  Lest we remind everyone, the Bengals’ problems are not about offensive talent; it’s whether their 30th-ranked defense has actually improved.

    Cleveland Browns

It’s a take: This writer portrays yesterday’s trade of DE Myles Garrett to the Rams as a lingering consequence of the widely-criticized DeShaun Watson trade (gift link).

Newly-acquired LB Jared Verse is not a bad consolation prize for Garrett, per SI.

    Pittsburgh Steelers

The Garrett trade has some wondering whether the Steelers should consider trading all-pro edge rusher T.J. Watt, who’s coming off one of his worst seasons.

Whither Will Howard?  One commentator’s take on the backup QB’s sudden surge in popularity.

There you go, folks.  Perhaps I’ll crack my knuckles and do this again in a few weeks.  Gemini and the like are waiting in the proverbial wings should lethargy again take me over.

    Enjoy.
