Given the events of the last 24 hours (years!), it’s a little tough to crank out a pithy preamble today. Or an article at all. I’ll give it a try, because you all deserve that much.
Football was played last week. Some teams won. Others lost.
Here’s what happened.
Broncos 10, Ravens 41
Despite missing a couple of practices last week, Ravens QB Lamar Jackson (16-19, 280 yards, 3 TDs) posted a perfect passer rating – and only four rushing yards – in a lopsided Ravens win. RB Derrick Henry rushed for 106 yards and 2 TDs, and WR Zay Flowers added 127 yards receiving and 2 TDs.
Defensively, S Kyle Hamilton led the team with 10 tackles, and ILB Trenton Simpson added 9 tackles and a sack. Backup LB Tavius Robinson collected two sacks.

Chargers 27, Browns 10
QB Jameis Winston (26-46, 237, 1 TD, 3 INTs) reverted to previous form against the Chargers, tossing his lone TD pass to WR Cedric Tillman (6 catches, 75 yards, TD). RB Nick Chubb continued his on-field rehab with 15 more carries for 39 yards.
Former Steelers and current Browns LB Devin Bush led the team with 8 tackles and a sack, while DE Myles Garrett added 3 sacks in the losing effort. DT Dalvin Tomlinson contributed 1.5 sacks.

Raiders 24, Bengals 41
QB Joe Burrow (27-39, 251 yards, 5 TDs, 1 INT) posted an excellent day as the Bengals finally won a home game against the deteriorating Raiders. RB Chase Brown (27 carries, 120 yards) enjoyed his finest outing as a pro, and TE Mike Gesicki (5 catches, 100 yards, 2 TDs) contonued his excellent season.
DE Trey Hendrickson collected 4 sacks in his just-announced AFC Defensive Player of the Week effort, and LB Logan Wilson added 9 tackles and 2 fumble recoveries.

I’ll be better next week. And you will too.
See you then.
