With one game left, the Warriors are 66-15, which makes them 206-39 in the past 3 seasons, far and away the best ever over a three year span. They are the best team in the league and should be overwhelming favorite to win the title again.
They finally have Kevin Durant back, which makes them that much more unstoppable as they just had a 14 game winning streak without him.
They did lose their most recent game to the Jazz, but Steve Kerr rested his starters in the fourth quarter because he did not want to tire out his stars before the playoffs are set to begin. The Warriors play the Lakers in their final game and it is likely that most of the starters will rest throughout in that game as well. 66-16 vs 67-15? Nobody will notice.
The Warriors are set to play Portland in the first round, a team that declined significantly from a year ago. The Warriors had a tough series against them last year. However, this one should go much quicker due to the Blazers horrifying defense and the Warriors having Kevin Durant instead of Harrison Barnes.
The Warriors path to the finals will be much easier than a year ago. The Cavaliers are significantly weaker, especially on defense. The Celtics are young and led by a 5 foot 9 point guard. The Jazz are limited offensively and the Rockets always fizzle out in the playoffs.
If there is a team the Warriors should be worried about, it is San Antonio. The Spurs took 2 of 3 from the Warriors in the regular season and have one of the best coaches in NBA history leading them. They will likely give the Warriors their best fight, but I still don’t see them taking 4 of 7 from them.
The Warriors have another amazing team in 2017 and the path to the title is not as daunting as in years past. Hopefully they stay healthy this time around.
Tune in for the next Warriors update soon!
