An Open Letter: My Apology for 49ers Bias

    640 480 Oliver James

    Dear SKA Homers and Trolls,

I admit it. I was wrong.

As it turns out, my prediction of the 49ers going 4-12 was way too high, as they were handed their 13th loss with two more games yet to lose. It is clear that my unequivocal bias and monumental lack of football knowledge led me to such an optimistic prediction. My lifelong love of the 49ers and their legendary history made me impartial towards the idea that this team could possibly win that many games.

The mere idea that I could have the 49ers beating winning teams like the Buccaneers, Dolphins, and unbeatable Cowboys shows that I, Oliver James, am too much of a homer to have an impartial opinion about my lifelong team.

It is with great regret that despite me writing an article about why Chip Kelly was a terrible head coaching hire and how the 49ers not doing anything in free agency would hurt them that I somehow reached the conclusion that this team could possibly win 4 games. I even originally pegged the 49ers for 3-13, but due to my partisan nature and utter foolishness, I upgraded them by a game.

I managed to unite the entirety of the SKA 49ers fan base against me with my obviously biased and horrendously inaccurate prediction about this team. I was called a fake fan and I guess they were right. A real fan should have known that this team was destined for failure with such a poor owner, general manager, head coach and team all working together. I was just too optimistic and it got the best of me.

I ask that my fellow SKA friends please forgive me for such an awful, uninsightful prediction due to my horrendous and blatant bias towards my 49ers. In the future, I will be more realistic in my interpretation of the 49ers and will only make predictions based on knowledge and not egregious favoritism.

    Regretfully Yours,

    Oliver James
