AFC North OTA Stuff and Things

    Howdy.

There’s activity, albeit mild activity, happening around the league this week as most NFL teams are gathering for mandatory mini-camps.  There’s been a few notable signings, and some farewells to former AFC North personnel.

Such as it is this time of year.

Here’s a few links and tidbits.  Enjoy.

Discussion and debate about the Browns’ slate of QBs continues.

My Take:  Making this prediction here, now, in June: Joe Flacco will be the Browns’ opening starting QB, and Shedeur Sanders will likely take over by midseason.  It makes the selection of Dillon Gabriel in the third round rather meritless, as he seems to have been overdrafted and will be difficult to trade.

Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers claims signing with the Steelers was “from the soul“.

My Take:  Like most of what Rodgers says these days, his statement reeks of insincerity and reflects his massive ego.  To deny he signed with Pittsburgh because they were the only team willing to accept him is to accept his often-suspect version of events.  Steelers fans beware.

Bengals QB Joe Burrow speculates about the team’s potential options regarding DE Trey Hendrickson.

My Take:  For all of his team concerns, Burrow’s advocacy for re-signing WR Tee Higgins came at the expense of Hendrickson.  If Burrow’s looking to assess the situation, he should start with his faulty calculation that a WR is a roster requirement while the NFL’s current sack leader is not.

The Ravens have been mentioned as a possible landing spot for recently-released CB Jaire Alexander.

My Take:  It all depends on Alexander’s contract asks.  The Ravens routinely spend every cent of their salary cap and typically carry only enough to insure against injury, and Alexander also carries big injury risks.  Not to declare definitely that this won’t happen, but…it probably won’t happen.

    Next time.
