More AFC North Stuff Things and Junk

The NFL’s “dead zone” has arrived in earnest.  There’s a few narratives being kicked about, but they’re largely the same storylines we’ve been absorbing for the last few months, still with no resolution.

Here’s a few of the latest AFC North items, such as they are.  Enjoy.

Never a shrinking violet, former Steelers QB Terry Bradshaw has made his opinion regarding the Steelers’ potential signing of free agent QB Aaron Rodgers quite clear.

My Take: I’m getting the impression, based off multiple chat boards, that Steelers fans in general are on Terry’s side here.  Signing Rodgers for a year does nothing for the long-term prospects of the team; another 9-8-ish record wouldn’t sit well with the populous at this point, and that’s likely what Rodgers would deliver.

Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase seems to be implying, but not implying, that the Bengals should be playing starters in preseason games.

My Take: Not to repeat the mantra of “the Bengals need a defense”, but…the Bengals need a defense.  For the angst over their slow starts, the team’s offseason focus has been on correcting seemingly non-existent problems, when its biggest, most-screaming issue remains unaddressed and subpar for a team that believes it has championship aspirations.

Some speculation, not unfounded, that the Browns will likely trade one of their four active QBs.

My Take: Given the state of the Browns’ QB room, it’s entirely possible they attempt to keep all four QBs.  My shocking suggestion: trade Sanders, as he’s more likely to bring a solid return than any of the others.

While other teams are scrambling to extort new zoning and stadium money from their respective states, the Ravens have embarked on the latest phase of their M&T Bank Stadium renovation project.

My Take: Pretty cool stuff.  Who doesn’t enjoy full-length 4K displays of the game while waiting in line for a beer and a hot dog? The Ravens have always made an effort to promote an excellent in-person game day experience, and this appears to continue that tradition.
